Bought a ms-441 the other day and also bought a stihl case for it. Tried the saw in the case and it would not fit.E-mailed stihl and they told me if I set the chain break the saw will fit with some tension. Anyone else ran into this problem? Or have a fix.

Yeah, the larger saws don't always fit in the case, and it is no surpise that the new generation of saws may not be a 100% fit in the old-style case. If it fits with the brake on then I guess that's as good as you can reasonably hope.

For what it's worth, I gave up on the cases since they take up way too much room in my vehicle. But the protection is nice if you load the saw in a truck bed or some other place. Some of the smaller truck boxes are actually great saw boxes, and don't take up too much bed space; they are a hell of a lot more expensive than the Stihl case, though...

I had the same problem at first but figured it out.

Place the saw in the case.
Push the saw back toward the back of the case as far as it will go (handle toward the back of the case as far as it will go).
Close the case and latch it.

If the 441 powerhead/brake sits toward the front of the case, it will not close.
Give it a try, I am able to use the standard Stihl case to house the 441.

Yep. I keep the saw all the way to the handle side.

Also, I took a torch and heated up the plastic a bit and now have a very nice "custom" fit.;)

The 441 makes a GREATTTTT limbing saw with the 20" bar.
I used my 441 to trim up some downed hickory trees and made real quick work out of that job.
It isn't as heavy as I thought it would be. I find myself using the 441 for all my cutting now instead of switching to my 260 when the tree is down.
