The annular buffer mount is broken on my 661. Was wondering if anyone knows a way to fix this or if anyone has right side crank case for sale. Any help would be much appreciated.
No it's the upper mount that attaches to the handlebar. The case is broken where buffer stop is supposed to sit.Is it the right side bottom front? I use a small strip of flat steel drilled each end. Attach one end into the bottom dawg mount (using the existing screw) and the other screwed into the mount (again using the existing screw) thus bridging the missing piece. Not exactly pretty, but does the job!
YesIs it the oval casting which a peg on the handlebar sits in to limit excess travel?
Well I've had one through the shop with this broken and didn't seem to cause a problem with the owner. I suppose as long as the other mounts are strong then I don't really see an issue.
maybe have set of cases here
heard they were from demo/fire saw
dunno what diffs might b
Yah I get that it's prob not a big deal long term but I buy/sell and repair saws and I can't in good conscience sell someone a saw I know is broken no matter how trivial it may be.Well I've had one through the shop with this broken and didn't seem to cause a problem with the owner. The problem I can see is, if you are being heavy handed and yanking on the rear handle when the bar is pinched, as really it is just a travel stop to prevent overextending the mounts...
I got the saw this way. This is actually quite common on the 661, if you don't pay attention to the annular buffer it wears out and the bolt starts hitting the inside of the case where annular mount goes. It eventually wears the rubber sleeve off the bolt and the it's metal to metal contact. I prefer the poly aftermarket black annular mounts myself.Well I've had one through the shop with this broken and didn't seem to cause a problem with the owner.
