Wow, I didn't think my question would start a chain reaction like this. I dropped the saw off at the dealer this morning. I explained what was wrong & they said they would take a look at it. I sure hope they cover any problems - I'm getting nervous now. Anyhow, I'll be sure to let everyone know what happens. I just started cutting my own firewood & have bought two new saws from this dealer within the last 6 months (the MS310 & MS180). If they don't cover the probelm, I will be a little upset, but I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt.

Its' always tricky for both parties. You're sure you didn't break it , and if it is broken, and the Dealer is sure he didn't do it, that only leaves "someone else". If you didn't damage the saw, then stand your ground.

It's okay bmcdjohnson, we have one village idiot (coveredinsap) who thinks he can highjack a thread with his incessant musings about chainsaws. Which he knows not a damn thing about.

Sap.... grow up, and do us all a favor and stop ruining every thread that is posted with all your friggin' jibberish. This message board is for people to learn and get help. Not have to deal with freaks like you. Please stop! This is the Ump-teenth thread you have made into crap with your drivel.

I can understand why the dealer might question it, as it doesn't seem like that is a part that would normally break on it's own. However, why would I crank on the adjuster so hard that it would break the stopper, that just doesn't make sense. Anyhow, when you pay the extra $$ to buy a Stihl saw instead of a cheap Wal-mart saw, you would expect that if the dealer was in "doubt' about who is at fault, then they should give the benefit of the doubt to the consumer. That's what a quality company would do. I'm still waiting to hear back, but I'm definitly going to stick to my guns here. I hope they do the right thing - I don't want to end up being a disgruntled Stihl owner like that Sap guy :)

That's funny...I was looking at the Echo cs-670 at my stihl dealer and noticed that the the bar/clutch cover was installed wrong..the tabs weren't engaged and the cover wasn't sitting flush with the case. It was sitting all half-cocked. Now who do you suppose did that, a "customer"? Hahahahaha!

Yeah, Stihl dealers are gods.!sigh!

Are you still here? Quit your whining and move on. If you want the "rest of the story" then pull your head out of your arse and look around.

Sorry I don't Know what a arse is. Webster dosent list it as a word. try using spellcheck next time. I've been looking around though.
I see that you are nothing but a Troll. that likes to disrupt any thread that fits your inborn need to manipulate others into thinking your way.
What you don't see is that Sthil's sales are going up daily because of you and your Idiocies. So whos winning now. Not you.
And thats the rest of the story.

Why is sap still getting replies from us? :notrolls2:

This is just the last in a series of otherwise good threads which he's come in and hijacked. The gentleman who started this thread is now worried about his dealer because of what sap has to say! Whether or not the dealer honors it has nothing to do with sap, but he's spread his nonsense enough now to start worrying people. I've got sap on ignore, but I still can't wade through this thread without having to decifer what's sap-related, and what's actually chainsaw related.

If they're not going to ban this guy then it's incumbent upon us to police ourselves, and as was just said, "let it go." Trolls can't troll if they don't get any replies. I think we've established that sap is more than just some pompus guy who talks too much, but doesn't mean to be that way. No, we've established he's a troll, and is here just to mess with us, and contaminate our site. No reply from any of us will ever get him to stop or see the "error" of his ways. Just the opposite, when we respond to his crap, he wins and he sits at his computer and laughs and laughs and laughs. Just think of that, sap sitting and laughing...at us.

C'mon guys, let it go, and he'll go away.

Jeff

bmcdjohnson- How new is fairly new? If it's under warrantee, it should be taken care of. If it's beyond that, then you may run into issues. Let us know.

"bmc" doesn't by chance refer to your "rate and rank" does it? If so, Navy or Coast Guard? I'm an AMT2 in the CG, and GASoline71 is a Navy guy himself...and now only a few weeks from retirement, eh Gary!

Welcome to AS.

Funny how he dislikes Stihl so much, but hes there enough to see another saw mis-assembled.

Nope. That was the same day I bought the ms390.

I think a person can pretty much tell beforehand if their dealer is going to give them a fight over warranty issues...just by the demeanor of the dealer when you purchased the saw.

Its also got alot to do with the demeanor of the buyer as well. You get along alot better when you dont have a chip on your shoulder.

Sadly, it seems that the chip started on my Stihl dealer's shoulder, not mine.

Thats quite possible Sap. My dealer has bent over backwards, even let me use his shop and tools to tear my saw down to get parts swapped. He always gets me parts with 2 days if he doesnt stock them.

Casey whenever your back in Virginia your welcome as well to stick your hand in my box of tools and use what you need. I've even let customers take specialty tools home just on their word that they will bring them back. To date no one has ever failed to bring back a tool. I do always tell them if you don't bring it back I will come burn your house down in the middle of the nite. That always gets a big grin across their face and they have never let me down once...............................
