Do you ever read the complaints that people post on this forum regarding Stihl? .....or do your eyes just glass over, roll up in your head, and pass over those posts? Because if you bother checking, Stihl by far receives the most complaints around here (and thats leaving me out of the equation).

Denial ......it ain't just a river in Egypt.

If you own 87% of the market you'll get more complaints!

Sap, Buzz off. It was real nice not having you around beating the same old drum for the last 24 hours.

There are far more complaints about you than a saw brand that has a great majority of the market. Did you ever ponder that?

P.S. I'll keep my comments brief from now on so that you don't bog your dialup connection.

Unfortunately for Stihl (and their customers) you are the exception, not the rule.

But you know that already...or you should.

Well Sap I just can't buy that. I think for the most part the exceptions are those instances where things go wrong for whatever reason. I know for a fact there are many good honest dealers in my area. There is one that comes on here thats about 25 miles from me and he's had a great business for years. This year his business has boomed to unbelievable levels and its all due to being a top notch dealer. There is another dealer 70 miles from me that is the biggest dealer in the state of Virginia. He's been at it for years and years and he does so simply because he's a top notch dealer. He sells well over a thousand units a year and has done so year after year after year. The exceptions you speak of are intances where something goes wrong with the product or sale. That happens in all brands and companies. There is no such thing as a perfect product or perfect dealer for one simple reason, the products are made by humans, bought by humans and the dealers are human as well. Untill there is a prefect human there will always be some problems to overcome. I like to think for the most part we all do the best we can, anything less than at least trying to do our best is the exception. That goes for all brands and I'm certain most would agree.....

There are lots of great dealers in this area. I have 3 other Stihl dealers within 6 miles of my shop. Thankfully, THALL is 25 miles West. I don't think we could stand up to him and his level of service. His level of service and dedication to the brand is unique. I truly believe he is one of a kind. I'd like to think that we and many other dealers try to come close. Any dealer for any brand that he believes in, and can support his customers, is capable of delivering excellent service. Having a kick-a$$ product line doesn't hurt either. We're having a killer year. We have to work even harder now to be sure we continue to deliver exceptional service to each customer. This gets exponentially harder as the numbers go up. The largest dealer in VA is a company called Morton's in Fredricksburg. They are 2-3 times larger than the biggest dealers in my area and their reputation is stellar. Any dealer can succeed or fail in this market. I know of several that are trying very hard to fail and I am amazed by the amount of effort they put into this endeavor. Making generalizations about one product line, one dealer, or one type of person just shows how narrow-minded one has become. Another dealer's poor service only makes THALL's or mine look that much better. I don't have the time to run down my competition or my competetors' brands of saws, i'm too busy trying to be successful at customer service. That is what sells MY dealership.

No dispespect intended to Thall and his good company, but I'm quite certain that it is the rule (you have to be good to stay in business), and not the exception (bad dealers prosper). Most dealers have it together.. if they don't they go out of business. That goes for any brand... and there are always a few bad apples, but they don't last.

Like you sappy, most of us vote with our feet and wallet.

Understand fully what your saying there Lake. I was trying to point out to Sap that I just don't buy his theroy just because of his instance that took place. All the dealers around here that I know of all do great work and I'll be the first to admit there are many here. No doubt in my mind had he dealt with you, the fellers around here or yours truely he wouldn't be so bitter. He did pull off a post on me on the other thread that I laffed at so hard I had to let him know. Who knows maybe in the next century he'll get over his bad ordeal, if not oh well, I, like you and the guys around here will continue to take care of our customers in top form...................
