Parts are here, haven't had time to get to it yet I'm working on my log splitter build. This new bar is huge and the Stihl RS chain is razor sharp I can't wait to get this thing up and running an bury it in some wood!

Been busy working on my log splitter build and haven't touched the saw project but I had to noodle and split big rounds Sunday, used my lean mean 170 machine and it got me motivated to finish the 360. The 170 is a fuel sipper at least lol
So after i got home and plowed the snow while the shop warmed up, I got back to the 360. Spent the evening cleaning parts and cleaning parts and more cleaning. Finally got the mangled wrist pin clip to come out of the crankcase too! Forgot to get a pic of it. I'll start putting it all back together tonight. A clean saw is a happy saw!
Here's a few pics of the port work as well.

I know porting seems to be a very controversial topic here and I understand why. It's definitely pretty scientific, but it seems to me that getting more air in and out has to be helpful as well.

When you raise the ex. port you lower compression and it's compression increase that gives the most power.

Sounds right to me. The port heights weren't changed any. Just widened and smoothed out.

That gives power increase but very small.

It's a firewood saw not a hot saw lol trying to ease into it...

It's not the amount of air pumping through the motor that makes power. Making better use of the air that makes power. You can hog a cylinder out and get long intake durations and sure it'll run faster. But you're going have spit back from over filling the case, thus killing case compression. That in turn makes for a lazy charge transfer which causes slow throttle response and makes less power per unit of fuel. Remember that you can only fit so much in. And unburnt charge exiting the muffler isn't making power. Obviously improving flow helps in most case's, but fact is there's a fine line between enough and too much on many saws. Don't grind blindly, and don't assume more air=power.

Same here! I've been playing with the 036 firewood saw quite some time, little by little, bit by bit. Compression is KING!

I'm pretty sure mine has been done mildly and conservatively, should be pretty safe. We'll find out soon.

Are you planning on setting squish for more compression? Minimal port timing changes and nearly free horse power.

That's NOT being scientific! That's the FIRST place to look for more grunt power!!!!!!!!
