I downloaded the manual and was looking through it tonight. On the oil quantity control page, it mentions an option for a higher flow rate. I don't recall seeing it discussed here, and it's not listed as an option on the Stihl site for this saw. I did a search and came up with nothing. I haven't got the saw yet, the dealer had to order because I wanted the Arctic version, so I don't know if it's coming with the option. Anybody ever heard of it?

I believe that most STIHL pro saws come standard with an adjustable oiler. My MS 260, 361, 460, and 660 all have a slot screw on the bottom that you can turn with a screwdriver to adjust the oil flow. I would expect the 441 to have it as well.

Could be. There were different pdf. files in the download. The Spanish manual had English pages mixed in with it. It does say English/USA in the top corner of the page though.
Ok, I took too long. I was answering Casey. This is an option for higher output in addition to the standard adjustable oiler. It says the oil will only last for half a tank of gas if used. I may play with a little milling with the Mini Alaskan I have. I've tried to add an aux. oiler to it, with little success and much mess. This sounds interesting.

Talking about two different things.

Some of the larger Stihl saws have a High Output version of the oiler. Still fully adjustable.

I just scrolled through the whole thing, didn't find a HO parts page. But every page say English/USA. I did see the summer/winter shutter deal. Cool. I had to flip it around on my 039. Then I lost it when the cover popped off one time.

Bottom???

On the bottom of what? Down near the clutch? Bottom of the case itself?? Where did you find it on yours eh???:stupid:

The MS441 Magnum WRAP has the HO oil pump - just like the 460 Magnum WRAP. You get about a tank of oil for a tank of gas.

The non-wrap models have the standard pump.

Ahah, that explains it. They should mention that in the options available for the saw. Somebody might want it. Thanks.

I thought the handles had something to do with it also, but wasnt sure!

It's easy enough to convert (see my 066 oil pump thread), but... To me it's stupid that they even bother to make the two versions of the pump... They figure the wrap is a west coast thing and we use bigger bars only on wrap saws.. Oh well..

I think it's mentioned in the owner's manual. I think I remember reading it in mine...I know it read it somewhere in Stihl literature.

+1 for Andy. Beat me to it.

Do the 044's have the adjustable oiler??? Even if they aren't full wrap???

Where in the heck is it Andy?

Underneath the saw, clutch side, a hole... poke a screw driver in and it turns a partial turn from low to high. Should be a symbol in the casting, but it may be worn off.

The owners manual is where I found it. Couldn't find it on the Stihl site. How you supposed to know about available options to order when it's only in the manual that comes with the saw? No biggy, maybe I couldn't get the Wrap with the Arctic anyway.

Is there an optional HO oiler for the 440? If not, what is the best way of getting more oil output without going to the winter oils?

It's confusing because the oiler isn't an "option"; it just changes depending on which model you buy.

And it's a regional issue... out West we can get the 441 wrap and the oiler stuff is known. Can you even get a Wrap in your area?
