Here's the deal.... I was cutting wood and my Stihl 036 died on me. Tried to restart it to no avail.

Pulled spark plug (wire attached), and grounded it on top of cyl head. Gave'er a few pulls and no spark!! Went out and got new coil. popped'er in an still nothing... no spark!! What's up????

Saw was running perfect until it died.

What is correct coil air gap? Have tried different settings and still no spark. Checked wires for damage. Made sure all connections and contacts were clean.?????

I just spent $274 in repairs, new worm gear, spocket, oil pump, newer 20" bar, carb cleaned and readjusted...I bought this saw new bout 3yrs ago, cost little over $500.

Got saw back from repair shop and it ran perfect for about an hour then just died on me. Saw is in like new cond except now no spark.

If its not something simple..Best offer takes it!! Don't want to spend anymore$$ on it.

Thanks

No Spark

Sounds like an ignition trigger. Going through this myself, see 075 post and pictures of parts.

It is not clear from your post but did you try a new spark plug? The thread about plugs never going bad not with standing, it could be a bad plug. If it is a good plug you may have a bad new unit or the magnets on the flywheel are bad. This is not likely however. Gap the module by placing a business card between the magnets and the module and then tighten down the fastners. Mike

Has new bosch plug in it that Stihl upgraded to. Every electrical contact point on this saw has been brushed and blown out with compressor.

spark

You need an ignition module. If you bought it new, you may still get a module under warranty. If not, should be lots of good used ones out there. That is usually how a module goes, it works or it don't.

The last time you had spark was when I had gas in your shop and ran you all out of it.... Did Hazmat get that air cleaned up?
Put the bill on my bill please.

Later,
Chris
