Cliff,

We have the exclsuive N. Amercia rights to a very specialized type of dirt road maintenance equipment--originating in Australia. I hope the attached picture shows up--this shows the machine behind my F-350. It will scarify, crown, smooth and compact a dirt road--all in one pass. It weighs about 10K and is a real bear to pull, though simple to operate (joystick) when compared to a motor grader. Also can operate at a fraction of the cost. Trucks must be manual shift, diesel and 4WD low a must when "in the dirt." On the highway, you can tow at normal speeds. The machine also works behind a tractor--we use a JD 7410 4wd that pulls it really well when we want to really re-shape a road. Currently, we are doing some work on a monthly basis around your area.

Best,

Gardiner

Lamboll,I could one of those on the road in front our house. It is a slag road.I ust to drive a truck for D.H.Trucking out of Mount Pleasant.Has a F250 4x4 and runs nothing but Western Star tri-axels dumps.Who in my area,if you don't mind asking,do you do work for?Cumbee?

Cliff we're doing some work on private timber land where the roads have really been messed up by the loggers--they continued to cut when it was so wet last fall and really tore everything to pieces. We do a lot of post-timber cutting work as well as some county and state work. Is your road county maintained? By "slag" I presume you mean crush-n'-run or "R.O.C?" Some of that stuff is very hard to break through and necessitates use of our "sandvik" blades.

Who is "Cumbee?" All the best, Gardiner

Lamboll, the slag I refer to is from smelting or the making of steel.Nucor sell it by the ton,it is far better than ROC.Less dusty mostly. The Cumbee I refer to is John Cumbee of Cumbee Chevy in Moncks Corner.

Hey guys, this thread kinda went "south"...pardon the pun :D...I know most of them do but, is there any chance it might get back on topic? I'd like to hear from Ken about how the 288 stacks up against the 066...stock saws only...well maybe muffler mods. :D
