New Echo Pro saws

Wanted folks who own a newer Echo pro saw to chime in about how they feel about them. I don’t personally own one but I own some older echo weedeaters and what not, which I’ve never had much of a problem with. I’m personally a husky man, but my local husky dealer is also a huge echo dealer, and a CS 7310 caught my eye the other day. Ive run a few home owner model echos in the past, I wasn’t really thrilled with the build quality or design, seems ages behind husky and stihl, but their pro models caught my eye the other day, just wanted to see how you all feel about them.

I've run mostly husky saws till recently when I bought an Echo CS-620p It's a great saw... every bit as good as Husky,
I like it more than the 5 series Husky's so far, lots of torque and it's all old-school technology, so you can fix it (if it ever brakes down).
Never ran a 7310, but here good stuff about them.

If you have a 572 I think you’ll be disappointed In The power difference in the 7310. Build quality isnt bad but like you said they kinda skimp on stuff like a toggle kill switch, simple and effective but I feel there behind stihl and husky in that department a lot.

Absolutely love the power of my 572 and 576, 572 still isn’t broken in yet though, only had about 5 tanks of fuel through it so far, quite excited to get past the 10 mark. But like you said I have heard some say the 7310s are quite de-tuned from the factory

I'll take the rock-solid metal toggle switch on my Echo over the plastic ones on my Huskys every day.

I get it but never had a failure yet and it’s nice to have one switch for choke and shut off.

Must be a user preference, I like the separate on-off switch on my 365, 372

I could go either way, I’ve always liked the older husky 262s or 55s and even my 365 special with the on off switch separate from the choke, but I also like the combo switch on the 572, just choke it and go, isn’t room to make the infamous “forgot to turn the switch on” mistake with a auto return kill switch , lost count of how many times I’ve pulled my arm off trying to get a saw to pop off only to realize the switch was off

Auto return is another handy feature. Hopefully you see where I’m going it just seems the new features are nice and echo is a little behind the times imo.

The 7310 do have a very good air filtration system on them .

I'm afraid you might be right.
I think it's because the old style switches are usually hard mounted, whereas the new type are mounted to the carb which has got lots of flex so they don't break when they get whacked.

I still kinda prefer the old fashioned type switches myself.

Until 2015 me and my two brothers (all chainsaw guys) believed Sthil was "THE" saw..BUT i'm the rebel and I bought a Echo cs590. A brother bought a Sthil 391 and we cut up like brothers do when they are NOT fighting..(well we do at times, ha ha.) So my Echo kept right up with the Sthil 391 bucking a huge oak..The difference in the two saws mostly seemed to be more plastic on the Echo..Baby brother then had to out do me and bought a Echo cs620P..Of course it has a RIM drive and that hurt me real bad.. I limped around a long time just waiting to wear the Spur gear out on the 590 so I could replace it with a Proper drive..BUT,, even then the 590 in my (smarter more experienced hands. grin) kept right up with the cs620..BUT in the back of my mind I heard, "You ain't got no Rim Drive"..Cain and Able came to mind but I tried to play like I was not real pizzed..I called the Echo dealer and he saw a hot dog and tried to eat my lunch 100 bucks, you gotta be kidding.. SO,, I suffered silently for years.. THEN,, recently, I found an after market clutch drum and rim drive with free bearing on Ebay. Shipping, tax and all just under 30 bucks..Thinking, what's 30 bucks I ordered it.. Supposedly it's going to arrive soon and we shall see if it's like my X wife. Making promises that can't be kept or like my current girl friend, Exciting and fulfilling..ONLY time will tell..BUT do I like the 590? Ask my collection of Sthil saws..The 029, 026, 024, never get taken out of the shop.. They sit and stare angrily at the smiling Echo collection..There are a few Poland saws that hide in shame..But that's another story..Like I told my grandson about Border Collies.. I think you will be happy if you do get one..only in your case it's a Saw not a dog.. BOTH ways both of you should be happy for a long time..The saw should out live any dog..So what are you waiting on..? Ask honey for the check book and head out to the store.. Good luck.

I’ve got a couple of Echo saws that I wouldn’t trade for anything. One is a 680 that I love for cutting fallen live oak. It has good torque and an auxiliary oiler, thumb pump. It’s a real workhorse. It’s heavy and not a zippy saw, but it can take lots of abuse. My other is a 370, and it was my first saw. It’s 12 years old and the first 3 or 4 years of its existence, it got abused beyond capacity. I’ve learned to take really good care of my saws now so it still gets lots of runtime but it runs better than ever. I think Echo isn’t really in the tech race with the other 2 but the equipment is just as good.

There’s actually a lot more plastic on a Stihl 391 than the Echo 590. But I like both saws.

Echo doesn’t make clamshells starting at their 50cc class. But everything below that is. They are plenty tough though.
