I here ya but they call it a pro not arguing that, but it could use more features if they want to call it a pro. I know it sounds like I’m hating on them which I’m not I had a 7310 and knew he had a 572. Was just letting him know he wouldn’t like it vs his 572 in the original question the o p asked. I quickly sold my 7310 once I got my 572’s. There prices are very nice but I do prefer the 572 vs 7310

I’m very happy with my 7310, it’s been an awesome firewood saw for me with a 24 inch bar on it. A little heavy but it’s got good balance. Great air filtration, I never seen fines get through. It has very similar power to a stock 372 according to Red97’s dyno.

It won’t cut as fast as a 572, and it’s not that much cheaper unless you can find it on sale. I paid $720 for mine with a 20 inch bar and chain but that was a sale price. Also the carb limiters are unnecessarily complex and the h and l screws have stupid half slots on them that makes it annoying to adjust. None of this was deal breaking for me but it’s good to know for anyone looking.

It’s all personal preference. I have the antiquated 680 and I like it and regard it to be as good a saw as any in its class for its capabilities. I also like the way it feels and runs. It’sa saw that no one seems to rave about but I run mine right along side a 395xp, which everyone seems to love. I’ve got a friend that owns a 7310 and prefers it over his MS461. I haven’t run a 572 but I just don’t like auto-tune saws.

Just curious on your experiences with autotune and why you don’t like it. I know early on they had some issues but seem to be few and far between now.
Unfortunately this isn’t often clarified… but I don’t mind running them, in my limited experience with an older 550, they run phenomenally. Very reliable too. But I just don’t want to buy into something that I can’t troubleshoot and repair on my own. Just a hang-up that I have right now. I’ve gotten really proficient at tuning saws and repairing them, and I enjoy it. Hard to even troubleshoot the simple stuff when you have an auto-tune solenoid attached to the whole thing.

That’s the only issue people have lately and it does make since. Hopefully I never have the issue so far so good. I know the carb is really pricey like 125$ for a 550 which is crazy!

I think the electronics are reliable. Just like everything else though, they fail sometimes. But as a hobbyist chainsaw mechanic I can keep a saw in the woods for decades on my own. I don’t have that ability with autotune. I do imagine the 572 is a great saw to run, I just don’t imagine that if I bought one today, I’d still be running it in 20 years. With the low hours I put on individual saws, that’s very feasible with old tech but there seems to be a lot of new tech with autotune… firmware updates, new versions, etc etc. Technology is improving while the caliber of human beings is plummeting, including small engine techs. The 7310 is a very promising saw from my perspective. It’s old tech, built well and everything is set up to be worked on and easily replaced just like my other Echo saws and my favorite Husqy. That’s why a lot of people are breaking their necks to get their hands on the pre x-torq 372’s and even the latest 372’s now that the 572 has officially replaced it. Same is happening with the 395xp even though they continue to manufacture them.

There’s actually a lot more plastic on a Stihl 391 than the Echo 590. But I like both saws.
Thanks for telling me. I took the word of my Brother. He really looked the cs590 over. I hardly noticed his saw. How do they compare in weight? How far apart are they on cost? My 590 cuts faster and better the more its used. Somehow that last statement reminds me of my redhead girlfriend. She's old and worn out now. She smoked got cancer and lives with family. Sadly I warned her but she thought Cigarettes were a safe enjoyable treat. I feel sorry for smokers alcoholics, drug users etc but they aint babies. I can't change a diaper and fix them.

If you have a 572 I think you’ll be disappointed In The power difference in the 7310. Build quality isnt bad but like you said they kinda skimp on stuff like a toggle kill switch, simple and effective but I feel there behind stihl and husky in that department a lot.
It’s a preference thing. I have several from different brands. I like the simplicity of a choke lever and a toggle switch.

The plastic on the Echos is softer and more pliable than the Stihl plastic. Before it develops a good patina, it looks cheap. I think this is true for Husqvarna too but their plastic is “crispy”. The 391 has its engine bolted into a a plastic chassis, while the metal crank case halves of the 590 are basically its chassis. It’s bit sturdier design and people usually associate it with being “pro” since the majority of manufacturers draw their line there. You’ll see people referring to “clamshell” saws. That’s what a 391 is. The 590 has a vertically split, magnesium crankcase. I’ve had good experiences with both designs but bigger saws nearly always have the metal crankcases. Echo actually used to have several metal clamshell saws where the engines were mounted into a metal clamshell. These were the old 4400, 440 and 510’s- 530’s. Great, bullet proof saws. The last ones were the 450’s just discontinued a couple years ago. I could make a saw like that last a lifetime.

And cost?… a new 391 May be at least $100 more than a 590.

The Echo 590 is making waves though. It has become the new Stihl 290. The dealers are getting good feedback from them and pushing them pretty hard, even to pro outfits.

My Echo CS-2511T starts easily and fills it's role as a Pro top handle saw. Keep in mind it's 25cc engine and 12" B&C. I don't climb, but use it clearing Autumn Olive crowding the edges of my fields and "roads" on the property. Its nice to cut up fallen limbs as well. It is the only top handle saw in Echo's "X Series" of pro saws.

I use my pole saw on the Autumn olive so I don't have to get too close to it.
I use a three saw system, pole saw, cs490, cs620P.
The pole saw is an M18 and can do quite a bit with the 8AH battery.
Good for trail clearing and the berry and other thorn bushes too.
I also have a Sithl Fs-110 with handlebars and a blade to take out the thinner stuff on the trails and clear new areas with only thinner ground cover (up to 2")

Until 2015 me and my two brothers (all chainsaw guys) believed Sthil was "THE" saw..BUT i'm the rebel and I bought a Echo cs590. A brother bought a Sthil 391 and we cut up like brothers do when they are NOT fighting..(well we do at times, ha ha.) So my Echo kept right up with the Sthil 391 bucking a huge oak..The difference in the two saws mostly seemed to be more plastic on the Echo..Baby brother then had to out do me and bought a Echo cs620P..Of course it has a RIM drive and that hurt me real bad.. I limped around a long time just waiting to wear the Spur gear out on the 590 so I could replace it with a Proper drive..BUT,, even then the 590 in my (smarter more experienced hands. grin) kept right up with the cs620..BUT in the back of my mind I heard, "You ain't got no Rim Drive"..Cain and Able came to mind but I tried to play like I was not real pizzed..I called the Echo dealer and he saw a hot dog and tried to eat my lunch 100 bucks, you gotta be kidding.. SO,, I suffered silently for years.. THEN,, recently, I found an after market clutch drum and rim drive with free bearing on Ebay. Shipping, tax and all just under 30 bucks..Thinking, what's 30 bucks I ordered it.. Supposedly it's going to arrive soon and we shall see if it's like my X wife. Making promises that can't be kept or like my current girl friend, Exciting and fulfilling..ONLY time will tell..BUT do I like the 590? Ask my collection of Sthil saws..The 029, 026, 024, never get taken out of the shop.. They sit and stare angrily at the smiling Echo collection..There are a few Poland saws that hide in shame..But that's another story..Like I told my grandson about Border Collies.. I think you will be happy if you do get one..only in your case it's a Saw not a dog.. BOTH ways both of you should be happy for a long time..The saw should out live any dog..So what are you waiting on..? Ask honey for the check book and head out to the store.. Good luck.
Haha. Great response. Do most of the echos still use spur sprockets ? I am kinda thinking about the 590, 4910 and 620 right now. Kinda leaning towards the 590. I don't really need the saw just want to try one.

Most actually run rim sprockets. The 590 and 4910 run spurs because they are technically mid grade while the 501 and 620 run rim.
