Ok, so today I went up to my Stihl dealer to get a couple parts, a couple chains, have them put a couple saws on the tach and what did I do? He had a Stihl 011 AVT on the floor that ran like a champ. I picked it up for $75 from him. I know this is a 41cc saw from Stihl that's top handle and 10.6lbs. Does anyone know anything else about this little saw??? It runs like a champ.

On a side note, I have to say that the visit to my local Stihl dealer today was like the hands down worse compared to any. I asked the dude to put my 044 and my 266XP on his tach to make sure I had'em set right, no digs. The old dude grabs hold of the saws, runs outside and says he can tune'em by ear. This is the best part. I'm standing there as he's holding my 266XP WOT with it just coming out of the back of my pickup at 30 degrees, after about 10seconds of him holding it, I finally start screaming at him that I'm gonna stomp him if he doesn't back the f$%^ off. I grab my 044 before he can touch it, take my 266 from him, pay for my stuff, and tell him I hope his business does well. What a miserable old A55h01E he was on top of everything. Almost like it was a chore for him to help me. Know what? I bought the wife's saw there, this little cheap one, and about $400 worth of other stuff. That takes me up to almost $1000 in the past 2 months now. Prolly not that much compared to some, but I'll tell you what, I won't spend another friggin dime there as long as that dumba55 is around there. Ugh, you have no idea the frustration...

I wonder if he was a gold certified tech  He must be one of the 8000 reasons the legion of Stihl dealers continue to leave a sour taste in the mouths of so many they 'serve'.

Hey Andy and Tom and Ultra, why don't they all come as nice and helpful as you guys? If they did, I would go buy me a 361 and 441 tomorrow - no joke.

Yep

I was looking for a new dolmar in the family

The 5100 is next. This was just a cheap one I couldn't pass up a deal on. Those top handled saw are very handy when your pruning etc... For $75 you can't go wrong eh? I was thinking about it after though, for the money I spent on bars and chains and this little saw today I coulda bought a 5100 for sure... Prolly in 2 weeks or so... She actually won't take one, that'll be mine. She just doesn't feel comfort with anything over like 2-2.5hp for some reason...

No clue...

Merry Christmas :)
Vince

I gotta get one. I'm gonna check bailey's. Now I see why so many people do their own work... The dude even went off at me for mixing like 45:1. What a di[|<

Just a small q here cisco, isn't that way of holding/storing your saws hard on the teeth? And what happens if someone stumbles against one? Just curious as it seems sortta risky, seems ta me to be potentially stressfull on certain parts. I had an idea years ago when I had more than one saw and it was to use a nice piece of (say 18-25" diam) stump and cut scabbards in it at about 45 degrees (down tip), then you could have a nice saw tree, with lights and tinsell, all very christmasy. :) Very nice collection btw *jealous*, you obviously take good care of 'em, cheers! (and actually use 'em, double cheers).

All the best to you and yours, and all of you out there in the wild wild woods!
(ya ya everyone)

I reckon I hadn't thought about it, butttt, pretty much every dealer I go into has'em hung so I figgered it couldn't be too bad eh? My uncle has a Stihl tree dude, and hangs lights and tinsel from it every christmas, lmfao. It's funny that you mention it because I inherited it this year. When I get it, for xmas, I'll put up some pics, lmfao...

If it will help make you feel better, I haven't been back to my stihl dealer. It sucks, it was sure nice to have someone taking care of my saws. For now I just hope they keep running well.
I've been working on them myself thanks to info I get off this site . I am waiting to get my $24 tach http://enmco.thomasnet.com/item/enm...ver=1001&origin=keyword&by=prod&filter=0later today to be able to set the rpm's myself.
I am thinking if he got to wot with the saw cold you need to bring down the rpm's.
