I'm only new to this (both forum and computers), and am also in Australia, however I find it very interesting reading.
Especially considering prices you guys mention for new saws - not withstanding the price of the ozzy dollar when compared to the US dollar. Someone at this end seems to be adding a few hundred onto the price (don't know whether it's government or dealers or both).
Anyway, when it comes time to buy my next saw I'll have to find out about getting one shipped over (I think I'd still be in front by at least $200 which is only $100 US, but it still seems like a lot to save).
That was just a thought. Here's my querey. How much hassle do the greenies cause over there? Here they have virtually shut down all the hardwood mills on the East side of the country - it's got to the point where a lot (at one point it was all) of the hardwood for the building industry is bought over from Western Australia- while at the same time they are dozing native timbers to put in pine, all the while being supported by the greenies who wont let us touch a stick of native timber.
Sorry 'bout this it's just that they make me - politicians who implement policies to placate loud minority groups, win votes in the cities, and screw the locals that depend on these resources. Got lots more to say about them, but wont at the moment. let me know how it is over there. Also thanks for the help with the old mac parts - they are on their way over.
