I have to say as a buyer I like ebay just the way it is. I have won auctions buy just putting in my top bid ahead of time or by snipping at the end. I like having the option.

Most people feel the way you do. I do a lot more selling than buying and just don't care for the sniping. It doesn't matter a whole lot, just thought I'd mention it. After a few years on ebay I've figured out a couple of good defenses against the snipers, especially the ones that bid in the last minute or so..

The sniping at the end is no big deal I just put in my best offer and if I get it fine, if not, I do not sweat it. I do not know what kind of defense you have or need against it To me, it still is part of the bidding process.

:agree2: Not uncommon to see items double in price at the end due to sniping.

Don't know much about sniping but wouldn't you have to put in a very high price to win the bid? Does sniping enter your bid at the last moment thus if you are not high enough you'll lose?
You can just click bid right before the auction ends. One advantage for the buyer is, the other bidder doesn't have time to sit and think about paying more.

I just picked up a couple 306a saws today at my local guy. Does anyone want a 361? He has a nice complete one.

As a bonus.... He has a 335 that looks nearly new with bad av mounts and he's going to tell the owner it's shot (because he actually thinks that and I didn't tell him otherwise). So I get first dibs. He also has a green 3000 with a scored jug. I love the lack of green knowledge around here:)

What does he want for the 361?

what is the model?

No clue, I didn't get it.

The guy that was selling it, got it from a friend who owed him money. He got it 3-4 years ago and it was in the condition you see in the pics. He used it a couple times and put it in the garage 2 years ago, with gas in the tank. He went to used it recently and realized he didn't drain it before storage, he was gong to clean the carb and the fuel line crumbled as soon as he touched. He told me that he didn't have time to fix it, so off to Craigslist it went.

with sniping you decide what the max you're willing to pay and enter it in the sniping site. your bid is entered at the time of your choosing; the typical is 6 seconds before closing.
i almost succumbed to cad today and would have won a 245 if i hadn't disabled my snipe with 3 minutes to go. hope it was one of you guys that won it cause i really wanted it. cash flow reality finally overcame cad. still want that saw though. looked like a good'un.
dam, shudda got it. non-buyers remorse

Sniping usually implies the use of a third party website or software that places the bid, timing it right before the end time. You only bid as much as you're willing to bid it just doesn't register til right at the end. If someone places a higher bid of course you don't get it. I personally have a problem trusting a third party site with that much of my personal info. They have to have access to your eBay account and thus your password to be able to place the bid. I usually just bid a few seconds before the end. Sometimes I cut it too close and it doesn't register because of the slowness of the connection.

I think it's a 5200...Top cover mounts like my 5200, my 4200 has 1 center screw.
Jim

Jim, early 5200's also had only one center screw holding the top cover on it as well.

That saw in the picture could be any who knows what and who ever painted it that way should be ashamed of there self.

That said, if it is all original parts, it is either a 4400, 4900 or 5400 because of the extended tank and the HD recoil cover on it.

Looking for parts 3400 countervibe

Anyone know where I can get rings for 3400 countervibe. I torn mine down today piston is in good shape "chrome piston". The cylinder has streaks just above the exhaust port, but should not hurt it can't even feel them. I really would like to replace the rings. So far the only ones I have found were over $25 on fleabay. Thinking should be able to find some else where. Also going to need crankshaft seals and carb kit. Any ideas?
