Yup, But I still don't have the guts to put a good ready to run 4000 on there. I'm afraid it wouldn't bring much more than where that one stands.:msp_ohmy:

Here is another that will be interesting to follow.
Poulan 5200 Countervibe | eBay

Gregg,

You have no worries. You need to list it with a reserve. It cost you 1% of the reserve price, but its worth it if you need the peace of mind. If you want 300 bucks, that's only 3 dollars added to the 35 bucks it already cost you to sell a $300 saw on eBay. I have been burned by starting at a high initial bid. Starting low gets lots of watchers and get a bidding frenzy going. For example, I'm selling a shindaiwa 500 that i started at 99c and in the first day I had 15 watchers. On the flip side, I sold my wife's old iPod and started it at the lowest I would take. It brought the lowest price of one sold on eBay that week and it was the nicest one sold. Only 4 watchers and No bidding frenzy........

Your other best option is to put it up for a crazy high buy it now and take offers. That has worked for me a couple times. Never accept or decline good offers until the latter part of the auction in case a great offer comes up. No harm, no foul.

Edit. I forgot option 3.

Here's something I've never heard mentioned on here, 3400 XP Pro

Apparently there was a model sold in Canada called a 3400 XP. I came acroos it in some Poulan documentation I have which lists bars and chains for the various saws.

Anyone have one?

:hmm3grin2orange: Thanks for all that info! I have never sold ANYTHING on ebay, let alone a chainsaw. I guess seller beware applies as well as buyer beware. Lots of options to consider for sure. Not really wanting to sell a saw, but have thought if the urge (need) arises, and took it to the Bay, I would take a beating one way or the other. LOL Price em to high and just scare off some folks, or hope that a bidding frenzy gets started by some with deep pockets.:D

I think I prefer your option #3 better also.:msp_thumbsup:

You make it sound so easy.

Got this tired old dog delivered yesterday and got him cranked up in the garage last nite. He pumps 110 psi but still has some attitude. Filled him with bar oil and fuel to get a quick start this morning. At 3 am he was sitting in a large puddle of bar oil. (Geezers get up all hours of the morning and we catch up with afternoon naps). Threw a junk bar and chain on him. Fired up with just a few pulls this morning and he actually cuts. :msp_ohmy: Had to open the H & L jets about half turn each.

Oops, forgot the air filter. Oh well............................................................................ Ain't like he never swallowed saw chips before.

Check out the custom choke rod.

Builder's tag is gone from the flywheel cover. I.H. red will be a good match for the paint if he survives the general overhaul. He is scored some.

Saw's a geezer too. Should have put the oil in in the morning. You should know by now that all geezers, even geezer saws, have to go in the middle of the night.

Nice saw. Hope to get one someday. It seems like the only Poulans coming up around here are 3400's and a few of the top handles of various models.

Another possibility, similar to what Wagnerwerks suggested, would be Seal-all. I got some of this stuff recently and it seems to glue about anything. It is recommended for fixing leaking gas tanks, as it is supposed to be impervious to gas and oil. I've used to fix a leaking quick connect on a pressure washer, re-glue soles on neoprene hunting boots, etc. I've seen it recommended for re-sealing the welch plugs on saw carbs, too. It is a thick clear goo, like silicone. Sets pretty quick and is supposedly resistant to gasoline immediately upon setting. I buy mine online. Good stuff.

I used this on my neighbor's 372,the bottom seam on the tank handle was leaking. that was two weeks ago and seems to be holding. I have two other tanks that I'm going to try and seal with it.

Nik, (Fatguy) has made mention of it. He has one I believe. Was a Canadian saw, with brake, with 4000 cyl. as I understand it. His dad had one, and Nik rebuilt it.

How about let us know how those repairs hold up. I bought it for that reason, but haven't used it for that yet. Works well for lots of other stuff, though!

Craftsman 3.6

I don't think the oil tank seam is leaking. The two screws holding on the bottom of the wrap handle have been replaced with some that are too long. Punched thru the tank wall at the bottom of the threads. I've seen that type of action before.:msp_rolleyes: Farmers don't own hacksaws.

Hadn't seen one of these before.....

Runs fine. PO said that the chain brake doesn't work. Haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet. Should clean up nice. Would like to have a nice bar cover with a complete sticker. Or if someone has a good, clear pic of the sticker, I could get one made......Would also like to find a 20" PREDATOR bar for it. (Might just get a stencil set made).

I have 4 335's and never seen one like that. Pretty cool.

Craftsman 3.6 358.353610 (sort of)

Been eyeballing Sears pars direct for him. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/par...s/Chainsaw-Parts/Model-358353610/0247/1503220

How big a grain of salt should I take for availability of parts for him? i.e. The dust shield/foam between the carb. box and engine. Oil tank gasket. Cylinder base gasket. Rings (!!).

I think Aaron mentioned most was NLA in spite of what was listed.

We have a Sears Service Center at the town shopping mall.

Funny you shoud mention hat about the chain brake. I just picked up a 285 which is the 46cc version of the 285, 305, 335 family. It also had a broken brake band. My friend has a 305 and his lower front vibration isolator was broken as was mine. Check yours. It might be another weak link.

I had a hard time finding the brake band PN but it is 530027363 if that's the issue with the brake. They are out there.

Nice score on the saw. With a name like Predator I'll bet the trees will shake in fear when you take it into the bush. Watch out for falling acorns (Stay away from coconut trees)
