You know, vintage saws...found some bars and wondered what the mount pattern was, marked for the older big Poulans including the 252. NOS .063 hardnose bars.

Well the reason I said kinda was I know by looking but never did see a Oregon or Poulan mount number for them. There just a little larger tail then the D176 mounts. I think there real close to the Homelite C series mounts and the Oregon universals fit as well.

The 252 used the same mount as most the rest of the 2 bar stud sand cast saws did. Far as I know anyway.

Any larger bars or just 20" or so. I would like to find another 30" like is on my 71-A to have for my 252. Wanted to try it with a .404 chain instead of the 1/2".

I have a 92 gear , green color , and a 91 tan color , my 91 took a slight poop on me , i think i can fix , the 92 looks alittle rough
but runs awsome , real loud .
I know where there is another 92 bow saw but the logger will not sell , my 92 has a bow and the 91 has a roller nose bar

Like I said, I doubt I will find one locally, so all I can do is keep my eyes open.

im sure he could be im one of his best friends and i don't have a sandcast poulan yet my self.

Well I got one whole sandcast, my 71-A and I guess the 252 is half sandcast and half diecast. :msp_biggrin:

Hard to believe a good friend like that would let you go sandcastless... :msp_wink:

Speaking of sandcast Poulan bowsaws, I just got one yesterday, which sawmandave said might be a 51 or 65, I think. I still don't know which because the saw has almost no surviving markings except the serial number. But, I have another question, too. What kind of gas mix is safe to run in these saws? The Acres site quotes a recommended 16:1 ratio. Most new saws do fine with 50:1 using a good synthetic oil. Is it OK to use the same 50:1 premix in the old bowsaw? Should I split the difference and go 32:1 or 40:1? Any advice is welcome, especially from those who have run these saws.

Whatever, I run 50-1 in all my saws including the ones I used to run 16-1 in back in the day. If 40-1 makes you feel better, it wont hurt anything.

Got a poulan part # on those bars? I got some old documents I could look them up for you.

BTW they never listed a 24" hardnose, either a 19", 23", 27", or 31"

Old Poulan muffler 11151or maybe 530011151

I picked up an old cast muffler. Don't know why as it doesn't fit anything I have. Its much smaller than the 306A muffler but the bolt holes match up. Mark, believes its for an old 25D saw. If anyone has need of it, PM me. Its yours.

You make the trip and I will donate a sandcast saw to the Underprivileged Sandcast Poulan Collectors Association of Northwest Indiana. :D

Wonderful video, enjoy them while they are young, as I've said before mine is out wrecking cars and bringing boys home. They grow up too fast. I repped you for that one.......

Does anybody know which Tillotson carb or rebuild kit is used by the Poulan 65 bowsaw?
Even better, anyone have a carb or rebuild kit for one (or know where to get one)?

Most all of the sandcast Poulan saws of that type have a Tillotson HL carb and take a Tillotson RK-88HL repair kit or DG-5HL diaphragm kit.
