craftsman 3.4 carb question

Got one going, fuel lines, plug, a little work on the oiler, carb cleaning, sprocket, B & C, and a muffler mod. Starts, runs and idles, but have not tuned it in wood yet. It came with the carb set with High and Low out 2 turns. After getting it running, I have it at the same settings.

It is supposed to be 1 turn out. but it wil not run and accelerate at that setting. Is something wrong to be at 2 turns out?
Compression is good. Checked compression, but not a leak down test. Diaphrams going bad in the carb? I will make some cuts with it tomorrow and see how she does. She sounds sweet and strong just how it is. Runs on it's side and accelerates without a bog. Any thoughts appreciated .......:msp_confused:

Some saws like it rich. 1 turn is a baseline. Adjust as necessary.

If that is where it runs then that is where it runs. I would not worry about it unless it starts changing RPM for no reason.

Hey, It (Craftsman 3.4) cuts! Ran well with a 1/8 tweek higher than original on the high. I worry too much, but a full 1 turn out of the baseline is way more than I have done with other 2 cycle OPE. The only set back was the clutch drum coming loose...but I had the cover on thanks to reading here.

With a 20 inch Bar of full chisel, I honestly believe it cuts as well (or better) as my 290. The only difference being 3/8 vs .325 pitch......and $100 vs $400+. Appreciate you guys on this site. I can learn alot when I keep my mouth shut and my ears open. I owe you all a beer:cheers:

Take care, Chris
