Can someone post a link to a PP 405 IPL?

Just getting into a pair of Pioneer P-41s and looking for alternate part number/source for pistons and rings etc.

Thanks fellas.

Carl.

Carl, you can look that up at Poulan pro.com and see that parts list, plus put it in your cart to see if its still availiable.

Chris has told me that Rottmans sales is a good place to try for that stuff as well.

That stuff can be hard copied and maybe e-copied. Might be a good reference for those who want a copy depending what's on it.

I did that a few years back after getting my hands on a bunch of fiche. Had to send it out to a place that had the equipment to do those and it wasnt cheap either.

Hard to believe there is much on those fiche that we dont have on PDF already, but you never know.

is there any interest in these items NOS cases and chainsaw trimmer attachments.?View attachment 281507

Those trimmer attachments are pretty cool, I have one here still in the box and someday I'm going to find a mint Micro to put on it.

I picked mine up cheap on ebay, in fact I was the only bidder which surprised me as I thought they would be worth a bit to some ole fool collector. :msp_wink: Guess I was the only ole fool!

Placed my order for four crank seals. Poulan Pro.com sent me to Ordertree.com. No information as to delivery time.:msp_scared:

Thanks Mark.

I am not old, but I have bought gas for 13.9 cents per gallon in the Detroit metro area..........used to fill up my 59 VW for $1.30 if it was on reserve, no gas gage...... and now the idiots in Detroit think we need touch screens on our dashboard.......not enough distracted drivers already? .I might be able to fill up my Poulan 8500 for that not counting the oil....:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Check the date on your touchscreen calendar, you might be older than you think. :msp_w00t:

3.7 arrived

A pleasant ebay experience, fast shipping, was what he said it was, clean and well maintained. Started and ran. It is on the bench now. A questionable repaint, a small piece of starter cover broken off, and compression not as much as I hoped. It came in at 130#, which I thought was a little low for the thin ringed 3.7:dunno: Muffler's off for a mild mod, and piston and cylinder look OK.

Debating if I should take it all the way down and see what I have.......and repaint it. Or, just slap a B & C on it and cut.

If'n it was mine (since you already have the muffler off)

1) remove carb, go through with new kit, new fuel lines, and filter (make sure to check screws holding intake block to jug)
2) remove jug after complete cleaning
3) find nearest dumpster for base gasket
4) set squish to .020 (probably would need access to a lathe)
5) reassemble with sealer and a new set of rings
6) check for air leaks
7) if everything checks out, run it like you stole it.........

how are the fuel lines and filter. since the carb is off its not that big of a deal go ahead and pull the jug. rings are easily and cheaply available. my sop is to loose the base gasket whenever i pull a jug; gotta check squish before you fire it up though. no reason to repaint it if its gonna be a working saw. if its a shelf queen maybe; but then why do any mechanical work on it. just make sure you got no leaks. when i got mine it wouldn't idle down at all. turned out the one of the screws on the carb adapter was awol and the other was loose. thread lock is your friend. take care of the small things.

Craftsman 3.7

WTH, you guys are right. Rings and some Yamabond aint that hard or expensive. I went hunting a clutch cover (was not the starter housing that is missing a piece), and do not want to part with 50$, so I will plastic weld, or use some metal and filler. I have a new air filter, carb kit, fuel line to go on it as well. Spark arrester was plugged and carbon in the exhast port, so I should take it apart anyway. No squish, I have a press, but no lathe......have thought about it

A couple cheap beers, NCIS on the tube, and a saw to work on, is a good way to spend an evening.:msp_biggrin:

Yea, if you remember gas for under $.20/gal. you must be like Jack Benny, always 39.

I bought gas for 20 cents a gal in sikeston, Mo in 1959 and can remember my Father buying gas for a dime a gal when I was about 6 or 7 years old. The reason I remember it was because it was a pump that had the glas container on the top and a handle on the side. You used the handle to pump the gas into the container (it had gallon marks on it) and then gravity fed it in to your vehicle. Tom

Let us know if you receive them. I've had orders seem to go thru but then in a couple weeks hear that they are NLA.
Bob

Same here Bob. Had that happen with a few Poulan parts outlets (Sears, a major site sponsor here, etc). Frustrating to say the least...

I'm not quite as 'really experienced' as some of you guys. However, I do remember paying $.69/gal for leaded regular once (for my 66 Bronco which was only 23 years old at the time). Was pretty jacked to pay that price, as I usually paid closer to a buck a gallon to fill it. I wish I still had that rig (and could still get REAL gasoline.......for those prices)...:msp_wink:

I paid 12.9 cents a gallon once during a local two stations price war. Normally it was going around 18 or 19 cents a gallon lowtest...

Thanks Mark.

Carl, if you look hard enough, you can find the phone # for ordertree on there website, and you can call and double check.

What I have found is that I think somtimes it takes a while for them to get stuff from all different warehouse's together at one point so some of this old stuff can take a while to get.

I gave it an honest shot before asking for help, but I am having a tough time finding 3.7 rings. Randy's engine repair has them listed, and I have a call in as to thick or thin.
I think I have the thin, as they are thinner than my 3.4. NLA at Sears and Partstree. Not listed at Caber. Does anyone have the size of the ring, and is it available for other small engines. Looking for a place to cross or buy a non specific ring that size. Thank you for any help.

I'm fresh out of chainsaws to work on and a shop near me has an old Sears orange and white saw in their back room. I doubt if it's a Poulan, seems older than the Poulans they used. This saw is almost in the shape and size of a shoebox only a little bigger. It may be a Roper but I'm sure it's not an Echo made saw. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to fix this thing up or should I just leave it where it's been for the last few years. I'm sure the price would be right if I wanted it...
