Sure do. It's 5334-14. Size is M14x1.25 mm. It comes with 3inserts. A short, normal and long.
I believe I used the normal or middle sized insert. It's a kit.
Bob

thank you, i wil be doing this as soon as i can locate the kit locally or purchase on the bay.

Find out what it costs for the kit. Other option would for you to simply buy the insert and u can use my kit. Guess it depends if shipping would exceed cost of kit. The inserts can be bought separately and the part#for the mid length insert is R5326-14n.

i can get the kit for like $28.00 from Amazon, locally not sure, i called a few places and they said it was discontinued, Ebay has lots of them.

the question is how often would you ever use it? i do small engine repair as a hobby and i have never needed it.

good info. how do you determine, other than compression, what and acceptable maximum ring gap would be?

I read the whole article and they didn't mention that there was a maximum. I'm sure that if you had too much it would lower the compression, but I would just use the figures for the min. and add a few thousandths for the max. If it called for .012 and what you had was .050 it would be too much, I would think.

I agree. You are welcome to use my kit. Just pick up an insert that is the length of a spark plugs threads.

Can't leave well enough alone...

Got a big Cherry to cut up Saturday, so I thought I would experiment with the two Craftsman's filtration (It would just be too easy to clean the air filter every fill up). I have a line on two solid air filter covers cheap, so I made my own Dotted Covers.....Added a 3/8 piece of shop vac foam, then the regular filter. Will see if it breathes better, if not I will go back to the solid.

6900 update

well, that did not work, there was not enough meatin the plug hole to even tap it out, someone really did a number on it before i got it. i would need to go oversize with the helicoil to make it work. do they make bigger ones? so i have one 6900 with a nice piston and rings (ruined cylinder) i have one 6900 with i scored P/C and i am trying to remove the transfer but i think it is actually worn past the chrome. Its hard to tell which way the lip is going. I have some acid on it right now so i figure i have nothing to loose. so i really need a piston and 2 cylinders, I also have a good 5200 P/C in a broken up saw that i could put on one of the 6900. That would be a sleeper!!

wont the 5200 bolt right up to the 6900 base?

The holes are good, but would be nice to cut out into slots.

The foam I think is a bad idea as if you look that filter gets its air from above and forward.

I think the slots helped to let the crap out of the back of the cover instead of it just laying on the filter. The foam you put on is going to help do the same as a solid cover!

As you see I have a 3700 cover on my Craftsman 3.7 .

Yes it will but like I found on the 8500 the rear fins on the 5200 may hit the intake adapter on the 6900. I just ran into this and am not sure when the change in cyls was made since they all cross to the same number.

It would be possible to trim the rear fins to fit.

Mark, i am going to check that out right now, hold that thought

the 5200 and 6900 cyilnder look identical to me, the 5200 has an 87 stamped on the top, not sure of the date of the 6900.

I'm not sure what the 87 means thats stamped on your cyl but I can assure you it wasnt the date that a 5200 cyl was made.

Like I said, I never noticed the fin difference till I was working on the 8500 and have not had time to look at the rest of my saws since then to see if any were different from the others.

I tend to agree with Mark on the 3700 slotted cover. By adding that layer of foam is like blocking off the holes you made in the cover. But, who knows. As you can see, the slotted 3700 cover has a LOT of opening. The filter is pretty much exposed.

The 4000 is a little different, and i think the filter stays a little cleaner. Just my observation. They bring air in from up front on the top cover, and have a little more surface area to the nylon filter. More less restricted area for air to get to it and through it. I have never seen much of a problem with any of them. But I would rate them 4000 style, then 3700 style, then the solid 3400 style.

I just happen to know someone who has a good 4200 cylinder if that would work. Let me know. :)

Using a helicoil or save a thread requires you to rethread the sparkplug hole. It takes out a lot more material than simply running a M1.25 tap thru the hole. I tried a rethreader that did the same thing you experienced. Had no problem with the Save a Thread.

Bob, i did purchase the save a thread, $28.00 at the local Advanced Auto (who said they did not have it) i went there and they had 2 on the shelf. Someone had already destoyed the threads and tapped it out very crudely, i ran the save a thread down it and it cut a very very small amount only on certain areas, what it did do was straighten the whole back up from being not round. The new thread just lays in there and spins around for the most part. i bet someone could aluminum weld it in place. or maybe JB weld it. not sure it would hold up to the pressure though.

time to ditch the helicoil and find a place that sells the timesert kits. they come in different sizes and will hold much better for sparkplugs. a bit more expensive than the helicoils but work much better.

very strange, nice piston/rings but ruined cylinder.I thought that the chrome is harder than the aluminum except if previous owner replaced the piston/rings but left the cylinder.Anyway,i hope to find the parts you're looking for.Try chainsawr, they have plenty of used parts.
