Cut a couple times now with the 3.4 and 3.7, and I am havin fun. Noticed the new air filters fill up quick, and not sure about how well they seal. Couple questions/solutions I am pondering:
1. Thin foam prefilter (easier to clean than the flocking)?
2. A little filter grease around the base edge?
3. Slotted covers....or does that just add more stuff?
4. Any other ideas?
5. Sharp chain, and clean often?:smile2:
I have my brother checking out a 4000 in Northern Ohio for me. This stuff never ends does it.
Thanks
Here are the caps and sock hats. Like I said I didnt set out to get the sock hats but there pretty nice.
Not sure how or why, but we call em toboggan's, or just boggan's in this end of the country. :confused2:
We called them stocking caps growing up and now I switched my kiddies over to beanies. We never had any as grand as these though!Yep, Was thinking that too. When I lived back east, in Ct. they called them toboggans, or just stocking caps. So I guess sock hat would be the correct Hoosier redneck term.
I do like Al's head condom though..LOL
Gregg,

a toboggan is something you sit on to go down a snowy hill. usualy realy fast in a straight line with no steering or brakes. best done drunk.

Gregg,
I've got a couple of 6900's that I'm going through. One needs a cylinder/piston. Would the Fatguy or Modified Mark have what I'm looking for? Also the 4200 and 6900 share the same bore and stroke. Has anyone done this interchange? Thanks, TG

not sure but partstree says they still have the piston and rings for the 6900, they may need to update their database. though.

It wasnt long ago that I bought a new piston assy from Poulan and they were indeed in stock. Took a while to get it though. In fact I think I have bought two of them over time.
The same piston is used in the 4200, 4400 and 6900. They also use the same cyl but I think the 6900 cyl may be different in the fins on the rear of the cyl like what I found on the 8500. If they are different, a 4200 cyl could be used but you would have to remove some of the rear fins to clear the intake/carb/reed adapter.
Let us know how it turns out.
Remember it may take weeks not days to get.
OK, I won't be getting my hopes up just yet. By chance was that your 4200 you sold on Ebay about a year or so ago. It was all painted up lookin good?
Where did you end up ordering it from?
