Thanks for the replies. What does the line attach to? Is there supposed to be a nipple on the pump body?

Yes. Brass barbed nipple. OD at largest part of barb is 0.187" fitting hole diameter 0.075" Looks like a press fit. I can't tell how deep it goes into the body.

I should be in bed as it past geezer time but here's a pic.

Anyone happen to know which craftsman model numbers are actually re-branded poulan 1800's?

Is there an a/m seal for these. Mine just fell off....:dizzy:

Never seen that question before. Just measure up the pump ID and the shaft size and try the seal finder webpages.

As far as the barb goes; if you can't find one at the hardware store you might try a pet shop that stocks aquarium supplies. They should have lots of small fittings with barbs on them for aquarium air pumps.

Another place would be a hobby shop, they seem to carry small brass tubing.

if it's a good hobby shop, they should have the little barb fittings as well. i use to loose a few here and there from the mufflers off of my nitro's.

Those RC guys are goofier than saw guys about small engines. Gaskets, fuel lines, heat shield, weird size spark plugs, are things I have found at our hobby store and saved having them shipped........FWIW.

Sorry bout the simplicity of this post, but I was in my local mom and pop hardware store and low and behold there was a bag of bar nuts laying there. This was the only thing saw specific I have ever seen in there besides stuff like fuel line, spark plugs, etc. I pick up the bag and it's very tethered, but can read a PP along with a part number of sorts. I have been looking for 5/16" 18 bar nuts for poulan's for a while and was just about to order some plain shoulder nuts from the big online hardware dealer. As I suspected the PP must have stood for Poulan Pro because they are the bar nuts I been a lookin for. The store has quite a bit of NOS B&S and old Techumseh parts, but zero chainsaw stuff. :msp_thumbsup:

A good trade

Yesterday I picked up a Mastercraft 2300av, with chain brake, and a virtually new bar and chain but without spark. The saw has seen little work so I guess it lost spark early. I traded a chimney rain cap that cost me $5.00. When I got there to pick up the saw the guy (actually a small motor repair business) said he'd found another one with good spark that I could have as well. It is an older Mastercraft 2000 with out a bar and chain, but surprisingly good compression. Both P&Cs look good.

Question - can you use the coil from a points saw on a saw with electronic ignition?
Pics later.

Regards,

Lee :hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

PS Mastercraft is the house brand for Canadian Tire Corp in Canada but the saws are actually Poulans in drag. 1 yellow and 1 red. Too much excitement the red 1 is actually branded Craftsman 2.0. I'm been wanting one of these since I repaired my bil's saw last year. They seem to have a lot of snot for their size! I have a new 14" B&C for it too.

I have a 2300 mastercraft too. Nice little saw. But no, you can't use a point coil on an electronic saw. You might be able to swap the whole ignition system including the flywheel.

Today I stopped in at the scrapyard close to work on the way home. Found a little poulan 2000 wearing craftsman colors. Brought it home for a couple of bucks. I unscrewed the fuel cap and peered in to find that it looked mostly full. So I lean over and take a whiff....hmm...smells odd, and not like fuel. I know the smell and can't place it. No big deal, I'm going to pour it out anyway. Full of bar oil. I haven't checked the oil tank yet, I wonder if it's full of fuel.

They had a poulan 3.4 there too, but it was locked up, missing the top cover, and had a good sized chunk missing from the bottom of the case. I debating bringing it home as well, but ended up leaving it. Mistake?

Wealth of parts there in case you get one of that series in the future, 3400/3700/4000. Possible usable parts, fuel tank, carb, ignition and so on. These sorts of parts are needed occasionally. If your going to collect saws, it makes sense to me to collect parts.

Yeah, that's why I was debating. I guess I'll stop by tomorrow and pick it up. There was also another little craftsman in there, but I couldn't identify it. Similar to the 2000/2.0, but the case was a little different and the air filter was attached to the side like my homelite 150.

Sounds like a model 20.

Al Smith XX saw in craftsman colors. Model Profile: 20 (XX)

That's it. I looked around for a couple of minutes on the acres site earlier and must have missed looking at that one.

The little 2000/2.0 wants to run. I pulled the top and bottom covers off the carb and got all of the bar oil  out of the carb. The diaphragms aren't stiff, but it's still not pulling fuel. I'm wondering if the fuel line is leaking air since it's not a very tight fit on the carb inlet.
