That's it. I looked around for a couple of minutes on the acres site earlier and must have missed looking at that one.

The little 2000/2.0 wants to run. I pulled the top and bottom covers off the carb and got all of the bar oil  out of the carb. The diaphragms aren't stiff, but it's still not pulling fuel. I'm wondering if the fuel line is leaking air since it's not a very tight fit on the carb inlet.

Those little saws can have trouble pulling fuel.
Here's from some recent posts on the issue:
Working on a Poulan Micro XXV thats been sitting empty (no fuel - no bar oil) for about 6 years. Put on new fuel lines and filter (thanks for the tutorial Modifiedmark) rinsed the tank with fresh mix and refilled. Primed carb and started 5 or 6 times - won't draw fuel up to carb. Carb kit??? Suggestions???

Carb kit is probably a good idea since the diaphragms may have become stiff. The gas cap also has a vent that needs to allow air to enter the tank as gas is pulled out. You could just loosen the cap a little to test that.

Good advice there. I'll add that the Micro is a saw that REALLY needs a healthy pump section in the carb. It has to pull fuel through about 15 miles of fuel line. New diaphragms/gaskets and screens (and a good cleaning) will help.

The earlier fuel caps are also crap. Either they pee fuel on your hand/leg/etc, or they don't breath and the saw will starve for fuel. The current replacement caps are much better and are about $5 and change at your local Husqvarna dealer. It should be a stocking part because of the Husqvarna 23 (rebadged Poulan 2300) and the various rebranded Weedeaters that Husky sold for a while in the 1990's.

530014347 is the current part number for the cap. Here's what it looks like.

Maybe it's just me but i find a lot of diaphragms on both the pump and metering side feel OK but don't do the job. I almost always just put a kit in and I'm always glad I did. It's pretty cheap and you're pretty sure the carb is runnig at optimum.

This must be an earlier one, because it spits fuel out every time I pull the starter. The husky dealer is right down the road from where I work, so I'll stop in there while on lunch or something.

I've got a kit here, had planned on putting it in if the diaphragms felt stiff. I generally don't replace gaskets and diaphragms unless they're hardened or there is some other issue. Guess I'll go ahead and do it.

Thanks for the info guys. :)

....... I unscrewed the fuel cap and peered in to find that it looked mostly full. So I lean over and take a whiff....hmm...smells odd, and not like fuel. I know the smell and can't place it. No big deal, I'm going to pour it out anyway. Full of bar oil. I haven't checked the oil tank yet, I wonder if it's full of fuel.

?

Marine Varnish, from back in the days before Polyurethane, is what seriously old fuel mix reminds me of.

Took the new 5200 out for its first test drive today. I don't have enough wood, or too much bar...LOL Hard to give it a true go with the 30" bar in that size wood. But, the saw works, still keeping it on the rich side. Just playing with it a little, there is a lot of rpm's left in it. Heres a pic and a short video. So I don't want to hear, "no pics or video it didn't happen. :D

Gregg,

Really nice saw. That is a thing of beauty there.
Plus looks like it runs well also. Once again very nice.

You know, that thought crossed my mine. And I may still put a different bar on it. Its probably just gonna get used at GTG's and such. I don't plan on using it for a work saw. (but one never knows) :msp_wink:

Thanks Roger, I'm pleased with it so far. I did have some screws loosen up on me. Top cover, and recoil cover. Might have to use some Loctite on em.

Gregg,

Great work! I need a big green saw:mad:.......The first time I fired up the 3.7 I rebuilt, the recoil cover screws backed out. I was able to find some matching panheads 1/2 inch longer and they give me a little more bite. Again, very nice.

Gregg,

I couldn't see your face to see how big your smile was.

Went back to the scrapyard today to pick up the Craftsman/Poulan 3.4/3400. Turns out that it's not locked up. The chain was rusted just about solid, and the clutch drum is too. Between those two, the crank couldn't turn. I had a look in the cylinder and there's no scoring as far as I can tell. The good, it was $5.

The bad:

Also missing the H adjustment screw on the carb.

Ahhhh That mechanical noise of that 5200 idling, takes me back to dirt bike days.

interesting what youtube/google decides to put in with chainsaw vids.
Can't understand what the guy's saying,
but looks like he flat out puts a "##### slappin" on some things!
(yeah i need some sleep again)

Looks like you need a new case. That's a huge hole in the bottom of the saw. guess you can salvedge other parts, though.

Gregg,

When did they change to black covers? Mine though repainted, originally had and still has a green cover.
Bob
PS Oh wait. I see your top cover has side screws whereas mine has one big top screw. GUess mine is an older model?

Losing screws? I forgot to mention that "Dollar store" nail polish
works dandy on a lot of those screws.
All the screws in any covers on mowers, trimmers, saws etc get a slathering.
Brush in the cap makes it esay to use.

Especially like how it holds screws in plastic.
you don't have to twist it so close to pulling the threads out, to keep it tight.

and the colors help me somewhat with keeping track of loosened or tight screws.
