Messing with a poulan 3400 and 4000 today. The 4000 is new to me as part of a trade. It would not run unless gas is dripped through carb. Guy had rebuilt the carb and replaced the fuel line. The carb is clean but won't pick up gas. The carb off the 3400 runs fine on the saw so I know it is in the carb. The issue I see is on the fuel screen side. Is there supposed to be a valve type sheet and a gasket sheet on that side? There were two black gasket sheets in there and the hole from the outside of the carb leads right to the fuel screen? Am I guessing that valve sheet if it were there would seal the hole through the walboro cover? If this is wrong what kit number do I need?

email sent with pdf file. rep'd too

Had a sister in Burbank for lots of years. When the riots broke out over Rodney King she made the decision to GTHO and did. Now she says the best move she ever made.....

It was bad in LA at that time. I serviced cat scanners and x-ray equipment for the county hospitals in those areas and was told no service there until things calmed down. It was to dangerous. I just needed to wait and be patient with my job so I could get a retirement. I am glad I did but I am sure glad I am getting the hell out.

Very nice, some day I will have to get me a 4000. I have never seen a black handled 3400 before...kind of cool...

It is just paint. When i picked up the saw there the handle was missing. That one is from a central PA green saw enthusiast :msp_biggrin:

got it sorted

Those long screws need a straight feed to their pockets but, they are there. Just keep fishing for them. The tank vent line sometimes gets in the way of the top screw.
Nice score on that 3400. Canadian Tire sold a very large quantity of those saws.

Thanks Tim, I guess that why they have a point on the end of those screws to help locate the socket. Piston looks good but my comp tester won't hold the measurement? May be some gunk in the intake valve which appears to be a normal tire valve.

What bar do they take as mine looks pretty bad and it's a banana to boot. Chain is OK though.

Off for a couple of weeks to the UK to catch up with folks including my son and new granddaughter.

Hope all is well with you.

Regards,

Lee

D176 bar mount. Seems that the 20" come in 70DL 3/8 instead of 72 though
