I remember using ATF to unstick lifters in motors when they still had carbs. Smoked like the devil for a bit but worked every time. 
As I suspected the previous person had added two gaskets and was missing the fuel pump diaphragm sheet on the screen side based on the generic diagram.
I will be ordering the suggested kit today. Thanks all.

Had a sister in Burbank for lots of years. When the riots broke out over Rodney King she made the decision to GTHO and did. Now she says the best move she ever made.....
It was bad in LA at that time. I serviced cat scanners and x-ray equipment for the county hospitals in those areas and was told no service there until things calmed down. It was to dangerous. I just needed to wait and be patient with my job so I could get a retirement. I am glad I did but I am sure glad I am getting the hell out.

It is just paint. When i picked up the saw there the handle was missing. That one is from a central PA green saw enthusiast :msp_biggrin:

Thanks Tim, I guess that why they have a point on the end of those screws to help locate the socket. Piston looks good but my comp tester won't hold the measurement? May be some gunk in the intake valve which appears to be a normal tire valve.
What bar do they take as mine looks pretty bad and it's a banana to boot. Chain is OK though.
Off for a couple of weeks to the UK to catch up with folks including my son and new granddaughter.

D176 bar mount. Seems that the 20" come in 70DL 3/8 instead of 72 though
