Oil pump diaphragm material.

Cut off a piece and made a diaphragm. Started saw and ran it and got a good flow off end of the bar. Material seems to work fine.
Bob
PS didn't even use manual pump to start the flow.

Tim, as a followup I did notice that there was a lot of oil dripping .after the saw was shut off

From oiling too much? If so, I think I will put a restrictor in the oil line like a small brass bushing or something.
What size bar were you running on the saw?
I know my 3400 oils a little too much with a 16" bar and I get quite a puddle under it if it idles for a while sitting.
It certainly oils a lot heavier than any of my newer saws like the 285, 3600, and 026.

Put a 20 on it. Lots of oil flowing. Good amount of dripping

+1
just got back from getting my new parts installed. My wife told me I got some mail:msp_w00t:
I have 1/2 sheet. I assume the other half of mine got mailed to where it was supposed to go.
Great job of packing and keeping the cost down.:givebeer:
Thanks Tim and David.

Yep, you got a 1/2 sheet and Jerry McMorrow got the other 1/2 of yours, as per the list Tim gave me.

Kudos to Bob for turning it into a diaphragm so quickly and proving it works!!!!! I'll take too much oil over not enough, any day of the week!

Happy 4th everybody.:msp_thumbup:

Possible to Covert Spur Drive To Rim on Poulan 3700?

Baileys no longer has the spur sprocket needed for my Poulan 3700. They do however have this. I tried calling them today, but those who know are not available. Maybe it seems obvious, but I don't want to assume anything, so that's why I'm writing. Can I remove my spur drive clutch drum and replace with this Oregon Power Mate rim and drum system? If the answer is yes, I'm going to like this more than the spur drive.

Thanks and happy 4th to you!!

New to me

Picked up a 3800 (grey Craftsman) in pretty good shape today complete with chain brake and comp @ 140 psi and a nice 3400 Craftsman has a broken AV mount (typical lower left case) for parts.

I also got a couple of yellow Swedish saws in the deal, one with a roached piston and one with one less zero after the model number that I think is a runner. I'll have to talk to Mark about those ones when he gets back.

No time to check them out fully as the kids are keeping me busy with painting and putting in a dishwasher.

picked up a couple of countervibes today. yeah and a jonny 49sp:potstir:

the 3700 runs but i need to go through the fuel system. the yellow 3400 needs a flywheel. both are low hour units. the jonsereds 49sp runs ok but needs attention. i have a bare nos. chainbrake clutch cover coming for the 3700. not bad for $46 bucks:)
