picked up a couple of countervibes today. yeah and a jonny 49spotstir:
different chainbrake arms:
the 3700 runs but i need to go through the fuel system. the yellow 3400 needs a flywheel. both are low hour units. the jonsereds 49sp runs ok but needs attention. i have a bare nos. chainbrake clutch cover coming for the 3700. not bad for $46 bucks
They look in real good shape! This qualifies as a you suck score! I have yet to even see a countervibe with a brake.
Beats mine today, running husky 246 I just got, paid a bit more than you did....but supposedly it is a hotrod acording to some specs I just looked up (15000 rpm?!?), have to clean and tune it, but it does start and run nice.

the 246 is a good little saw! you will like it tuned properly.
the yellow one maybe has a couple cord of wood on it. the 3700 (so the guy i bought them from says) only about a half cord a year from new.
he has no idea why the yellow one is missing the flywheel and nut. he put it away last year running fine and when he pulled it out a couple weeks ago to use it, he noticed it was a little easy to yank on the pullcord.:msp_rolleyes: he doesn't have any family that would be interested in any parts from it let alone anything small engine related. and nobody really around that would go in and "steal" a flywheel. this is his story so waddever
he dropped the 3700's clutch cover off the bench while he was cleaning it up. still have the part, but it was cheaper to just order one up than to have it welded.
the 49sp got her self squished with a log last summer. he went out and bought one of them poulan 5020 from canadian tire. he's as happy as a pig in poop with it.

I'm sure I can come up with a flywheel, if need be. Great looking saws.

The splined Poulan Carb Adjustment Tool, 530035560, which was readily available for less than $20.00 before 2013, has become scarce and bottom the feeders are price gouging, $50-$100. Check ecrater.com and curtschainsawparts.com. I just received one, 7/5/2013, and it is the quality item at very reasonable price, $14.00.

That's not too bad. I got one when they were still cheap, wish I had gotten a dozen.
I think the pinch on/slide on spade connector going to a flatblade screwdriver is about the best cobjob idea.

Nothing to it. I have to say, I finally managed to sharpen a 1/2" chipper chain fairly decently.

I just want to say thanks to Dave and Tim for the diaphragm material. I received it today and I must say that it does look very promising. Having about 8 saws that use that particular oiler it is going to come in very handy. Thanks Tim for the research and getting the material and David for sending it out quickly. It does not get any better than that.

That 1/2" chipper can sure pull some chips.
I guess I can report my fuel system overhaul on a SeaDoo is a unqualified success, as its out on the water right now running great. Downside is I will soon learn how to tear the jet pump apart after it ingested a piece of floating wood. LOL
I think it just gouged the wear ring up so shouldn't be a big deal.

Saw arrived and while its too hot and I have other projects, I did pull the muffler and performed a compression test. Comp ended up at 130, which I thought was low. Pulled the muffler and saw some what I think is transfer on both the intake and exhaust sides of the cylinder. Will probably pull cylinder in the future , iclean it up and replace the ring. For now it sits.

Yes that's a bit low. Like you said it might just need a little work.
When I rebuilt the one I have and putting it back together without the base gasket I got 180 psi out of it. So I believe you have the potential to get a lot more out of it.
I received my gasket material today. Thanks David for getting it out so fast. I couldn't believe it got here so fast. USPS and Canada Post must have finally got it right.
