Thanks Eccentric. its all back together now. what is a nice shiny 3400 worth if he offers it to me?

Brian

We all kicked in and built a still. It's located in Canada as the gov't here doesn't care if it's for personal consumption. I just finsihed mailing out the 1st samples to everyone. I hope it's good as I have 4000 gallons of the stuff.

You also missed out on a shared buy of some material to make Poulan 3400 - 4000 and their associated newer brother saws oil pump diaphragms which are becoming very dfficult to find.
If your 3400 doesn't pump oil, let me know and I will make and mail you a diaphragm.

Thanks Tim,

My 3400 should be back together pretty soon. I'll probably need a new or newer bar and chain as mine has one of those banana bars that's toast. Can't complain for $10.00. Oh and I went back and got the Homelite 35 for another $10. Pistons look very good in both!

Well it depends. I'd say $100 is fair though I've seen some go for more. Sold a 3700 on Ebay that only brought $77, which surprised me. Guess its the luck of the draw. If you can get it for less, great.

Tim, corn whiskey or Rye? 4000 gallons is considered personal use? Man , what a hangover.

Caftsman 2.3 clutch cover

Gonna need a Craftsman-Red 2300 clutch cover as I finally moved Li'l Red from the round-tuit pile to the Git-R-Done pile - threw in a carb kit and got 'er running. Doesn't idle right yet, clutch seems a tad 'sticky' and the chain adjuster slips (probably why she came with a chewed-up clutch cover...)

Yeah, that's a 'Wood Shark' banana-bar, but it's what I had on hand... *g*

While you have the clutch off to fix the 'stickyness'....................replace the crank seals. It's an easy job on these Micros. Betcha it cleans up your idle issues. 530019059 is the Poulan and Husqvarna # for the seals. Around $3.75 plus tax each from your local Husky dealer or online from a Poulan parts source. SKF#4913 will get you the same seals from your bearing house. May or may not be cheaper (or in stock).

Completely went through this 5200 for a fella.

Went to try it out and video it and promptly cut into a large screw in the log with it. :msp_sad:

Put another chain on it and tried it again and cut though a fence staple in a different spot in the log. :bang:

Oh well, at least the saw runs great!!!

That looks GREAT Mark!
I know the "fella" will be proud of that one, even if he would say "youse guys" instead of fella.......or as we say "feller"!!!

Thanks for the heads up. We'll always run your saws first when I'm over!

Pp 325

Got it back together but still don't feel everything is right. First saw still runs with the Lo needle closed. As I mentioned a while ago it holds pressure great but won't hold vacuum. Somewhere it's leaking but I can't find it. Seals are new and even with grease applied to them it still leaks vacuum somewhere. Guess i'll have to tear it apart and try again to find vacuum leak.

Bob it sounds to me like you got more of a carb problem then a vacuum problem.

what's the carb like? if it 'runs' with the low closed, sounds like a welch plug is leaking.

Right u are Mark. Did another pressure/vacuum test and both passed. Pressure tested the carb and it leaks like crazy. Stuck it in water and carb is leaking from the Venturi. May have to replace Welsh plugs but will year apart carb first to see if I screwed up the rebuild somewhere.
