I just got my 3400 going after a carb rebuild. The old 16" banana bar needs more filing but I do have a new Carlton chain for it. It seems to be very smoky so I may not have the tuning correct yet. It feels strong! This one has a chainbrake and the hand guard seems too close to the top handle, keep banging my hand. Carb set about 1 turn out H & L I'm guessing that a good place to start.

Regards,

Lee

I cant remember are these D176 bar mounts. If so I have some really good used bars in 16"-20" .325 and 3/8 all 050 some new most used. I had a banana 20" 3/8 050 I tried to change the mount on and ruined it. So it's gone :msp_ohmy:

That poor thing sure needed a bath. That stack muffler sure is something else.

So, did you decide if the 252 was auto oiling or not?:hmm3grin2orange:

Glad you got it going Lee. Mine seem to run best with the low at 1-1/8 and the high around 1. That's with a new carb kit in them.

I just picked another up which appears to need only a good cleaning, carb kit, fuel lines and I will need a muffler for it as someone crunched the one on it.

Ran both the PP505 sold and the WT505 today with 24" 3/8 full comp almost buried. PP505 airing back out for it's pack up next.

Hmmmmmmm why did I sale one, because I sure aint figured out a saw I am interested in chasing down for replacements yet. :confused2:

Tim,
I got a like new spare muffler set you can have. I got it one time from AngryBeavers seller on ebay, I think it was painted silver. Can get it at the GTG, if this olg geezer don't forget. :msp_confused: Will save shipping it.

By the way, I was cleaning the gunk off my PP380, and found it has a crack in the case, right above the forward bar stud. :msp_mad: Guess I finally found where my oil leak was coming from. So if anybody has a crank case for a 380, 3750 etc. or maybe a 330 not sure, I could use one of those at the GTG too. Don't need the top end or any other parts that I know of.

Gregg,

Thanks Gregg,
I'll remember to remind you. If you can't find a case half you could always have it welded. I heard there was a chainsaw welding specialist in southeast Wyoming.

I've only seen them on Craftsman saws. The tip was not symmetrical, instead it was turned up, shaped like a banana. I have no idea what their plan was. The ones I've seen only had oiler holes on one side so you could not flip the bar over when it began to wear.

Here are some listed on the bay:

That shaped bar had a reduced radius top to try and meet the rotational kick back reduction requirements. I got one on a Craftsman 3800.

I have a 2003 3450 complete crankcase, also a like new 60cc topend and a tank. Last One of the 60cc I been slowly getting parts for. No covers yet.
Take all or just partial parts of what you want. For a trade. I dont need it at all.

Tim, sounds like you're making good use of that diaphragm material! How many 3400/3700s you got running now?

Yep. D176 is a direct fit. D196/UXL will work with stud spacers (spring or 'S' type).

LOL, Yes, that welder guy in Wyoming was the first thought that came to mind, when I found the crack. But this old beater is hardly worth the shipping for it. I'm sure I can come up with something sooner or later. I'm in no hurry with it.

Hi David,

I have two 3400's that run well + the 3700 which I needed the oiler diaphragm for. It oils well now.
Since then I've picked up a 3800 which needs a cylinder flange repair, a 3400 which needs a left side case, and the last one which needs a muffler.

I've been laid up a bit and find it hard to get working on the saws. I have one in particular that I need to get finished soon.
It's next to impossible right now to try any in wood as I am unsteady on my good leg and falling over with a running saw is not an option I'd like to explore until I have to.
I've been concentrating on the ones I have in pieces so they are back together and out of the way.
I have yet to finish painting my 4200 which I hope to get at next week.

I'd be curious to know if anyone besides Bob in Texas has tried the diaphragm material. I really need to try it out to see how much oil it's using running through a tank of gas.

Gregg,

Will a 365 work? If so, I have one I can bring to the GTG. I recall it is good shape, I can PM pictures when I get back home.

Yep, my Crafty 3.7 (Poulan lineage) has a 20" banana bar on it, works with the then supplied chain as a low kick back set up.

Chris B.

Yes, I did find out, the 252 is indeed a auto oiler. Learn something new everyday. That's why I like getting different versions in my grubby little hands, to compare for myself.

That's why I was looking to get that 201 to compare to my 203.
