Just kidding. I don't BBQ though, the wife does. Years ago she was asking why I don't because all her friends husbands do the BBQ thing. I said sure and made sure I incinerated everything. All of it rang like bullets hitting a bell when the food hit the plates. Problem solved. The guests weren't too impressed though.

Top handle Poulan question...the wife wanted me to look for her one. Since I have the 5200 and the 3400, she's always wanted the "baby" to go along with them. She's a photographer, and wanted to do a fam photo with them as well. Didn't know what you guys thought to be a good model to look for...If there were some benefits to some over the others, cons as well. I know a couple were real power houses for their size. Any of you guys have one lying around that you would care to get rid of? Not in any big hurry to pick one up necessarily, but would like to add it to the collection. 'Preciate it!

The S25 CVA is the one that is the most desirable and is a formidable little saw for its size.
Depending on your wife's size, strength and moxie, the 2000 (a derivative of the micro) and its many cookie cutter brothers are great little saws, and lighter (slightly) than the S25 series.
There are about a gazillion of these around even some black and gold Poulan Pro models (180,205,etc).

That previous post came about b/c I was down in the field clearing some small trees and such from along side of the garden with my trimmer and blade that I just got back running and tuned up. (was a nice freebie) Was doing a pretty good job on the brambles and stuff less than 1", not so much otherwise. My wife walks down there to check on things and apparently saw a struggle that I didn't know was taking place. She says, "Ya know, if you would buy me that small lil Poulan, I could have all that cleared up for you. You'd come out cheaper buying me that small saw than putting all the fuel through that thing fighting that brush. Shoot, you'd burn at least 17 tanks in that trimmer!" That scarily sounds like something I'd hear a man with CAD say for an excuse to buy a new saw. I think it's contagious here. :) She's found all of my recent additions as well. I think I have a keeper! :)

P.S. Don't let it get around outside the Poulan group that you are considering acquiring a top handle saw for your wife.
You REALLY don't want the BS lectures that will be forthcoming!

HAHA...I know right! She's cut with my 3400 with no issue in the past...and is aware of the safety concerns with the top handles(both hands, kickback, etc) She's 5'7", 125ish, not afraid of weights in the gym nor getting dirty under the hood, in the shop, in the woodpile and around the homestead. I think she'd handle it just fine. Thanks for the info!

Do any of you guys just cut little wood? I mean like using a S25DA or equivalent all of the time?

Naw, got some pretty big hardwoods here to fool with from time to time. And probably use too much saw to limb up small stuff occasionally. But...run whatcha brung I guess.

Honestly, I rarely get into anything much bigger than 20", and more normal for me is 12-16". I've discovered slash piles as providing a ton of great wood, granted small, that my 'quake is perfect for. I could get away running a smaler saw (All we had when I was growing up was my trusty old 500VL), but what fun would that be? ;)

Many have heated their homes for years with just an S25.
I had a neighbor once who had an 1800 and wood was his ONLY heat.
We burned a lot of sawmill slabs, and cut wood together. I had a 3400 He thought that saw was HUGE!!! LOL
Wish I'd have known then what I know now.

My point exactly, I have 12 25's and have not used One seriously for a good cutting period.

Couple questions for y'all. First one of my PP330's the "silencing" foam inside the aitmr filter cover has become detached...I can't tell a difference really with it in or out...reglue it or toss it....second question...when deleting the base gasket on the cylinder/jug what do you guys recommend to seal it? I have some thoughts being an auto mechanic myself...but I want to hear the voices of experience

How many ya want?

These pop up in my area on a weekly basis, though I must admit to have pretty much snagged all the S25DA's and CVA's that have ever been posted. My YF likes em for mixin' drinks in front of ornery company!:chainsaw:

Seriously...., it is indeed a formidable and rugged ass little saw that'll huff and puff and just keeps gettin' the job done. I watched a guy limb and buck a huge ash (that was dropped by a more proper saw for the purpose) one day with just an S25. Lots o' fun to watch, basically because the guy was having a blast and just loved runnin' his li'l ol' Poulan.....and it was tearin' it up.

Ya know how ya start laughin' at somethin' that just shouldn't be happenin', but it is right before your eyes?

Yep. Definitely one o' those!
