Kinda along the lines of what I was thinking....still letting the air though, but keeping the wood chips out! It's gotta free it up quite a bit with the holes in the cover like that. I don't see how air really gets too easily otherwise.

If you were to look inside the air filter cover on a non vented cover you will see an area just ahead of where the air filter sits that looks like combs. That allows the air from behind the cylinder to get to the air filter. The 3700 vented cover does not have that comb area open. All the air comes from the vents in the rear.
It might be interesting to see if the 3400 air filter covers with the holes cut or drilled in the rear of the cover are sucking air from the drilled holes or if air is exiting from them. The air from the rear would be cooler for sure.

That is a good idea.

How I came up with this idea. My boys car has a aftermarket ram air hood. It required a hole in top of the air filter box, for the air to flow through hood to there. I noticed leaves, bugs, etc would get in the box even though air filter would stop it passing.
So I thought about how to stop it before entering the air filter area.

Couldnt find the K&N sheet. But here is Outerwears
Outerwears Pre-Filter Sheet - 12in. x 12in. WR12BK

But it is a good idea...my 330s fit housing get full of sawdust....

The holes are 3/16. It might be good to put some material on the inside of the cover. I usually clean the air filter every fill up of fuel. I will see how much gets in there on a tank of gas.

I might have to take a closer look at it and tackle that project. Will def report back if I do.

Is there a rattle can color available that is close to the sublime green? I am thinking about going over the gas tank on my 8500 while its off. Tonight the crankcase will get black.

i can't do that, ha ha I'm way over buget on this one. I want to use it, it will be a work saw & not a show case.

So its down to Rustoleum key lime & Krylon gloss ivy lead, Jerry my eyes can read whats on your can?

I may clean off the tank & take into autzone or oriellys & see if they match any mopar colors. I may just stop at home depot & go for one of the other 2.

I may end up with 500 saws but I'll never have any "show saws"....can't not use a saw lol

245SA AF cover & AF on a 306A?

How have y'all been? I took a break from AS because I haven't been doing much with saws.

I recently got a "sleeper" 306A rebadged as a Western Auto Wizard 430 Automatic via eBay, that is missing the AF cover & AF.

My question is, can I use the AF & cover from my 245SA to at least test it until I can get the proper parts? I haven't had the chance to try it (maybe in a couple of days) but something tells me no, it won't work. I know that the 245 cover is taller, but I'm not sure about how the AF might/might not fit properly.

Thanks in advance!

Chris
