So, I can put my newer poulan carb version on the 260 will linkage match with a little bit of effort? I do not know what it looks like compared to new carb. If you get a chance do you have pics of the carb?
what is all that white stuff?

Hey guys, I am looking at buying a poulan 260 of a member here. The thing needs a new carb or rebuild kit though. I have a ton of parts for carbs for the new poulan and craftsman saws. Are the parts for the new carbs interchange able with the old style found on the 260? I know that the design of the carb is different but are the components the same?
Sorry, that I was unclear on what I asked. Yeah, I wanted to know if the new parts on the new carbs can be used on the old carb. I would hate to buy a rebuild kit as I have alot of these new carbs and parts, so can they work or no?
Ill post some pics up for you later. Ill say that the 3700 style filter cover and a louver in the muffler made a noticeable improvement in performance, cutting hard oak before and after were more than noticeable.Well I'm gonna start working over my new 3800, not sure what all Im gonna do to it yet, but I remember reading Joe did a thread on adding the air slots to the air cover, but I can't find it, is it here or on the repair forum? Another question for the guys that converted over to the 4000 style high top & more traditional type air filter, I see there is a different part # for the 375 and 385 & 395, if you buy the cover & air filter is that all you need, or do you need the cylinder cover also? My dad runs a 24" bar on his 311 stihl, which i would think is not really ideal & I want him to see how good these things are.

Mike, I'm in the same boat. Wanted to say something as well but felt it wasn't my right. I like both guys and both have helped me many times. Seems too bad that some things were said.Yes Pogo, as a matter of fact I do miss Mark being around here.
But he is a big boy and can come and go as he pleases.
I tried to keep from jumping into the middle of the melee the other night and showing my ass, by attempting to diffuse and move forward. I'm going to continue to try to remain respectful and non combative now and in the future.
But I've got to tell you that as expensive as gasoline is these days you could have found a lot better uses for it than throwing it into the fire here.
The Poulan family is like an extended family in a lot of ways, ESPECIALLY the core group that has been here since day one.
I don't know how much experience you have with two or more brothers fighting, but a study of that scenario is certainly in order here.
Mike
