That slotted feature is the check valve to pressurize the oil tank. It has a duckbill valve in it that often goes south. It allows crankcase pressure into the oil tank via a passage but won't let it when the piston goes up.

as far as the seals go, drill a small hole in the metal frame of the seal and screw in a drywall screw. Grab the end of the screw with vice grips and give the grips a little smack upwards and the seal should pop right out.

I have heard some guys take it apart and replaced the duck valve.

image.jpg My CAD continues in advanced stages. I've been wanting a Poulan XX for awhile so I got one off evil bay. The guy said it was complete and had compression. Looked really dirty but it had the original bar and I thought it would clean up well. When it arrived, I pulled on the rope and there was zero resistance other than the recoil. Horrified. I wondered if it even had a piston. Turns out it didn't have a flywheel. Awesome. The guy said he would look around for it, but i don't think this is going to work out. Other than that (the fact that it will never run like this), I am really excited. The spur is barely even worn. The manual oiler works (I'm sure the automatic one doesn't). The piston and cylinder are very clean. Hardly any sawdust caked up. The air filter is even pretty decent. My guess is this little guy quit on some poor soul, they brought it to a repair shop, the repair guy sent him out with a new one, the repair guy threw it in a pile, until one day maybe in like 1985 he robbed the flywheel off it and threw it back into the pile. Then I bought it.

So guys ole buddies ole pals...anybody out there know where I can score a flywheel. gimme your terms. I would be eternally grateful. The part number is 530039058. I can tell you the flywheel for an S25DA will not fit it because I tried.

I'll try to post some pics (partially disassembled). Don't judge her on the filth. It's not her fault.

uploadfromtaptalk1399154376905.jpg got done rebuilding this for my dad for father's day. New P/C, completely cleaned and greased, new starter rope, base gasket delete, and muffler mod it's a strong runner... well my Poulan Pro 330 was stronger with a scored P/C:):):) haha. With the new P/C and base gasket delete the huskie can't even come close
