There has to be an easier way to remove the carb from a PP380. Only way I could get it off was to remove the throttle trigger, thereby allowing the carb to slip off the carb screws with the linkage attached. Otherwise the linkage is so long ,the carb can't be removed. Is there another way that I'm missing?

Can't really help ya Bob. My memory of the procedure has faded quickly from my weak memory. :( I have done it several times, so if I can do it....anybody can.. LOL I do like those saws. Just was never thrilled the way they come apart, and go back together. Compared to some of the older Poulans. Thats just me I suppose.

If you do a lot of them saws, I suppose you learn tricks and procedures over time. Just like with 4000's or 5200 type saws.

Gregg,

I was hoping to see you there. I am thinking about going to Chris and Mark's GTG and I would hate to miss it but it's a long drive for me.

I hear ya Tim. Any drive is long drive for me any more it seems. Will see how things are looking this summer. I'm not sure if they allow Buckeyes in Michigan anyway, its a football thing you know..LOL

I just did 2 recently bob, I don't remember touching the trigger. I think I turned the carb on its side and took the linkage on/off like that.

what are the best places/ sites yall have found for parts? ie: i need a new clutch for a 3800.
. Not completely sure but I think the clutch is nla. Ebay or a parts saw, no shortage of 3400-4000 saws out there not to mention the craftsman variants. And they all use 80% of the same parts. The 3 shoe clutch is one of those parts

How the heck did you get the carb off of the carb screws? The linkage won't let me pull it far enough to get off the screws. They are extremely long so you can add the black fiter holder and then the nuts that hold everything together

After you take the nuts and the plate off push the studs forward, all the way to the cylinder. You will then have enough room to slide the carb off them.

Be careful when pushing the studs back so you don't pinch the carb boot.

I tried that but couldn't get them back far enough for fear of tearing the boot. I figured that was the way to do it but I chickened out.

I was at that one, I took that video. I think Brad has the longer one. They fired them up again, so Brad could get a video of them. That GTG was at Jim's (forget his AS name now) :dizzy: he is big into old Mac's. I just noticed the other day, you fellas had a GTG over in Indiana last year. I did miss that one, unfortunately.

Gregg,

Then I musta met ya. Quite a few folks there and I sorta just stayed out of the way since I didn't really know anyone. I was standing right next to Snelling when he shot the second vid......., and it was LOUD!!!

Jim Rigdon (boda65) was the host and put on a real nice event. And I'm an Ohio guy too and didn't go to the Indiana GTG (or any last year for that matter). Hope to work one in this year somewhere somehow. Have quite a few more saws now than I did then!
