First tho, nice saws Gregg. That 361 is cool, never see any here tho. Your wild thing rips!
For JR, Here is the hoop that the fuel line passes thru on a 25 series saw. The one in the picture is an old model 25. 2.1 ci engine and manual oiler. These had one hoop. The newer saws the super 25DA and CVA have 2. In the pic Im pulling the line under it, then I grabbed it with a forceps and pull it thru. You can see how without that hoop, the flywheel will grab that fuel line and shred it.
<a href="http://s729.photobucket.com/albums/ww294/joe25da/?action=view&current=saws221.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww294/joe25da/saws221.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I ran mine just like that, I think. It looks like to me that it does go behind the flywheel and that's the problem. I ended up taking the flywheel off and putting my line behind the manual oiler rod and then back under the coil then into the tank. I had to use some shrink tubing over the line where it goes into the tank to keep it from leaking. At least this time it ran longer than it did before. Thanks Joe.

Hey guys, picked up this 3450 at the pawn shop yesterday. Already have some parts on order.....lower isolators and filter cover knob. What are the common issues to look out for? Also are the specs the same as the 330? Found an ipl sawtroll linked up already.
Couple pics before I cleaned it up. Cleaned up better than I thought it would.

Pretty nice looking 3450 you have there. I'm no expert on these series of saws, I'm sure someone here can shed more light, but the Green & Black 3450 & 3750 I think, are the basically the same as the Yellow & Black Poulan Pro 335 & 380. I have a 380, its a 60cc version. From what I hear, the Poulan Pro versions have a chrome lined cyl. where the green Poulan versions do not. And maybe carbs. Other than that, I think most parts are interchangable. Won't swear to it though. Should be a good running saw in any case.
Here is a pic of my Super 380.

Hey Guys,

I talked to ModifiedMark tonight for a while, he asked me to say "Hey" for him and let you know that he will be back on the site this weekend.
He is gonna spend Saturday scouring the flea markets and yardsales for a WILDTHANG!!!

Seems like another one has been bitten by the bug!LOL
He said he has been in Sevierville for several days and hasn't bumped into Dolly Parton yet but he really hopes to before he leaves:D

A few XXV's rebadger

I had a couple of these saws already, but I did pick up the actual green Poulan and the Sears Explorer last week end for 5 buck each at a local auction. The poulan as most XXV needed a new fuel line and the previous owner could not quite figure out how to install it. This saw was in pieces. I got it back together with new line, filter and a carb cleaning and she runs like new. The Sears Explores is a new version of these saws that I have seen. I have sold several red Craftsman but this is a first Explorer that I have seen. It to needed the usual fuel line replacement and carb cleaning. The other two saws I had already had. One is a Skill brand Poulan. The other is a common red Craftsman Poulan. These XXV saw no doubt were Poulans money saw. I used to think the Homelite XL series were the worlds most manufactured saw, but I now think it is the Poulan XXV.

You have a great looking collection of 25's there Blackoak:clap:
They all look like New saws! I'm starting to think the same thing, about the number of the xxv's out there. Would be interesting to see some sales figures of those saws over the years. Just the number in Poulan colors would be staggering, but add in the Sears/Craftsman, and others in there as well, seems like anybody that ever cut fire wood, had one.:)

Some of my Poulan saws....

I finally got around to taking some pictures of my Poulan saws and thought I would share them with the group. These are what I call my "classics":

PoulanSaws001.jpg

Included are a 4000 I picked up last Saturday, a 306A, a 245SA, two 361's, a 2300CVA and a 2000. Not pictured is another 361 in pieces and a 3400 I bought new that is being rebuilt.

These are my newer model ones which include a 236 Pro, 260 Pro, 295 Pro, a 2075, a 2150 and a 3300.

PoulanSaws004.jpg

I have disposed of a bunch of 2.3 and Wild Thing/Craftsman saws in the past couple of months.

I actually found a fellow down in S.C. that had an 8500, 3400 and a couple of other saws. I was able to sick an AS member from NC on them and he got all 3 or 4 saws the fellow had.

That rear handled Poulan Pro micro is intersting for sure. The classics always look good to me. Your doing well.

Yes I would say that the 25 series was what put Poulan on the map and for good reason. A Homelite XL isnt even in the same league as these, there more in the Micro league but even then they lag behind.

That Skil version sure looks nice and perked up my interest.

Mark, Just wanted you to know that I got the old Dayton 2z463 going that you advised me on several weeks ago. I've had it together for a while, just letting the tank get sealed real good before I put fuel in it. It ran so well that I haven't had to adjust the carb hardly at all but I have one little thing that I think might heal itself: when the idle is turned down as far as it will go before the motor dies the chain still turns. I'm thinking that when I get it in some big logs that the clutch will ease back a little. When the motor is off you can turn the chain without turning the motor over so it's not stuck tight, just maybe a little rusty or something (I hope).

My wife was taking a nap, but I couldn't help myself, I had to start it up! It's kinda loud compared to more modern saws....

I agree, I had one XL (about a week) not a fan even tho they have a following. Those are some nice 25's. I finally got a CVA25. Strange tho, has the walbro carb and a points ign. This must have been towards the end of the points since this saw is a '78. My dad bought his S25DA new in either '79-'80 that is an SS saw.

all these are SS S25DAs with walbros

That is a Pro 236 that I bought new around 1995 at the local John Deere dealer. It has been a pretty good limbing saw. It quit last fall and I had to put a new fuel line on it, the 2300 CVA and the 2000.

Poulan 361

Any of you guys ran these? I have one given to me by a friend
several years ago after helping him with a roofing project after it had
been laying in the weeds for several years. I got it running about 5
years ago, but probably needs crank seals, new fuel lines, & a carburetor
kit. I have B&C that fits from slightly newer Poulans.
It is about the loudest saw I have ever run, due to exhaust location,
I have a service manual that shows auto oiling in addition to the thumb
pumper.
