believe he was referring to a Dayton(poulan 306A).

If so I don't remember the replacement studs being the ones with the hole in the end for a wire but I could be wrong since it is been many many years since I saw a replacement for them..

I would just knock em back in the oil tank then using a small long magnet guide the new on back in from the oil fill hole.

Poulan Muffler Mod

Need to give a huge thank you to ModifiedMark for his work. I know he was busy and I appreciate his kindness. I painted muffler using ceramic Header paint good for 1600 degrees. Had to bake it at three different heat levels. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mark.

Nice! Marks work is second to none. I have an MM muffler on my 4000. Might go on the 3.7 tho, Mark said he had some nice gains on that saw. Wheres yours goin?

Thinking of doing the same thing.

:agree2:
I know what you mean. They are only good for 20 or 30 years and then you have to put fuel lines and filters in them. I am glad that I am out of work and out of money or I would buy that puppy in a heartbeat. I don't much care for the bannana bar but I could live with it...
cheers:

I don't like the bannana bars either. They did'nt last very long either.

Yikes. That is even worse! Perhaps they should take the Poulan name off of those. A one sided bar is not a great selling feature...:dizzy:

You my friend don't understand. Back in those days it was indeed a good advertising/selling feature.

Those bars came about when the rules came about to regulate anti kickback on saws. Combined with a anti kickback chain they did indeed help and made them able to pass those anti kickback regulations. Poulan was no the only manufacture to use those type bars either.

For what its worth, I'm on record for not likeing them either.

Gone bananas

So Poulan used the banana bars on their saws starting in the late '70s.
#1 You could still get them with a regular bars with sprocket nose and replacable tip all thru Poulan. (according to the 1983 parts catalog)
#2 If you dont like the bars, its cheap and easy swap.
I too dont like them but have have a few mounted on some saws. I have one on my restored 3400. I think it looks good on that saw.
Bottom line, put some 3/8'' non safety chain on and it will cut just as fast as a regular bar. You cant flip it. True, but I have enough saws I dont think I could wear one out anyway. As far as big brother is concerned...compared to what goes on today (sensors, catlytic converters, limiting caps ect..) its almost a non issue.:monkey:
