Oh I thought someone would be familiar here

We are very familiar. Everyone also has an opinion on this subject. It is not a reflection on you but the discussions were called oil threads. I personally would not use 50 to 1 on anything, not even my cheap weed eater.

Good morning guys. I am new to the Poulan thread, and I'd like to repair a couple of 3400s and a 306a. I need a piston kit for the 3400#1 fuel lines. 3400 #2 needs fuel lines. I need a clutch cover for the 306a. Carb kits for all 3. Bar plates for 306 &a gas cap. So the 306a was my grandfathers and I'd like to repair it and give it to my dad since he still
needs a tough 60cc saw. Then repair
the 3400s and see if he likes them better. I have my first baby girl due in march, along with all of the payments for house cars and such. So I need to be cost careful. Does
anybody care to lead me to parts. Or maybe even a good deal on some. I found a rough used cover but hoping on a good combo deal.

Hello, on the 3400's your cheapest best bet is to go on fleabay and type in Poulan Breather fuel tank kit (llrdbrn is the seller) buy two of these for your 3400's and they also sell a reproduction piston kit for $34.00. The carb kit is K10 HDB ($7.30 ) each. the 306 parts are hard to come by and easiest way to get them is to buy a parts saw. Good luck with your rebuilds.

Somebody has asemble 3400 without cylinder gasket before right?

I think you will find that the bar plates for the 3400 will work for the 306. They aren't made anymore but can still be found. The 306 / 245 gas cap may be tougher to find.

The guide plates are different but will interchange, the 3400 style are larger and the outside plate on the 306a is solid. I Will say that Poulan did update them through the years.

Most of the parts you seek are NLA, except though used parts suppliers like on ebay, chainsawr.com, etc. Some might have some new, old stock, items. Remember, these saws are 30+ years old. Either that or buy a used parts saw to scavenge parts from. A lot of 306/245 parts are the same, some not.
Same with 3400/3700/4000 parts.

Items like carb kits, filters, plugs, fuel line etc. can be found on ebay or online power equipment dealers. Or, brick & mortar stores also.
The bar plates should interchange with no problem. Just be sure to put a slotted one on the inside, so oil can reach the bar & chain. Outside, doesn't matter.
I'm gonna take a guess here and say that your dad will like using a 3400 better than the 306. But, would be nice to restore your grandads saw also..:)

Gregg,

The piston kit from lil red barn has to be modded, wrist pin bearings have to be staked in, bore too big and reuse old wrist pin, new one too small for rod. The wrist pin retainer clips don't fit piston in kit either. Hit and miss kit, i called them about and said they would check into it and see if the 3700 pin would work, told them thats the same pin.

If you haven't put that cylinder on yet, it is certainly easier to mount the carburetor adaptor before hand. That is, if you have pulled it off.
It's to late, I got come up with a carb gasket
