Don't think I can do that . Never seen the little needle bearings for the piston! Plus they seem impossible to install.Just get new bearings.

Anybody have an extra 3400 piston they can part with? Tried to install the one I had and several needle bearings popped out. Stupid move.
Took a quick look on EBay last night and saw a 4000 with a BIN of $100. Looked in great shape so CAD took over.
I have a 3700 P&C and two nos 3400 P&C's. Issue is I ported the exhaust port and want to try it out. Plus I don't want to breakup the nos kits. I'll keep looking for a piston.Maybe find a good used 3700 top end for your saw.

That was a good price on the 4000, about what I gave for my 3700 complete top end with crank.I have two 4000s, one was bought as a runner that needs work for $40 and the other was a nice one but it got beat up pretty bad by the grapple at the scrap yard but the cylinder, crankcase, top cover, filter cover and carburetor all survived, so I just need to find a blown up 3400 make a hybrid. I am just going to wait and find out of a a junk yard pile one day. The only problem is I keep finding only ones with compression. I haven’t found a blown up one.

Even if it's scored you still have all the goodies that came with the 4000, the HD intake, better muffler and the HD starter pulley and flywheelTook a quick look on EBay last night and saw a 4000 with a BIN of $100. Looked in great shape so CAD took over.
That's what I figured Joe. Let's hope the scoring, if there is any, isn't too bad.Even if it's scored you still have all the goodies that came with the 4000, the HD intake, better muffler and the HD starter pulley and flywheel
I bet it's okayThat's what I figured Joe. Let's hope the scoring, if there is any, isn't too bad.
