IMG_4610.JPG IMG_4611.JPG IMG_4612.JPG IMG_4613.JPG IMG_4614.JPG Thought I'd share some craftsman history here. I think I had posted these up 10 years ago mark, mike, bob and a few others saw it I'm sure I think I sent them to mark to copy too. Anyway the newer ads are from sometime around '84 and the older are from the early 60s. Like I said quality is never cheap. But cheap is.

I've gotten the original paper receipts with some of the saws I've picked up over the years. Using inflation calculators, the prices of those saws from the 70's and early 80's were very costly for the average wage earner. More so than today's equivalent pro saws. $320 for a 1980 Pioneer Farmsaw, for example, is $900 before taxes according to the Bank of Canada.

To pick up inexpensive, well-cared for saws of that era is very satisfying, considering the original expenditure folks made. I always make a point of gratefully recognizing that when I accept those gems from the original owners.

I just finished this 3.7 up yesterday. IMG_4595.JPG IMG_4605.JPG IMG_4606.JPG IMG_4607.JPG IMG_4608.JPG I'd estimate under 10 tanks run thru. Which seems typical of the craftsmans I have. My theory o these saws is proven many times. Homeowner buys the saw, uses it a few times for cleanup or some occasional firewood. Then saw saw goes back in its case in the garage, shed, shop.
My favorite saws to find. Usually priced less than the poulan equivalent and much less use

Nice saw Joe. Never seen one that size before.
