Well, let me tell you a tale of not doing proper prep. Have an old 3400 I thought I'd port. Installing the piston I broke loose a couple needle bearings . Thought I found them all. Installed a new piston , started saw and after 6 seconds it locked up. Ruined the cylinder trying to get it off and the piston is shot. Found two needle bearings in the crankcase. Somehow they were intact. Lesson learned.

That's high. I have the same one (thin ring) and a black/gray one that look almost that clean no plans to sell but if I did wouldn't be near that

Really high. I picked up one in nearly the same shape for, I recall $150.

Just checked and I paid $90 plus shipping.

Live and learn. Believe I have a 3800 P&C laying around. I may just make it a 3800. ONlything that upsets me was I ported the exhaust and was curious to see if there were any gains.

Yea, 24" does seem a little long. Seems most of the Craftsman saws sold with longer bars than necessary.

Thinking both of the 3.7 I have got have had the front exit covers on mufflers. Pic of 1st one.

Finally got around to changing the thrust washers in this 4000. I didn't have any larger pieces of wood to try it in. Just some old, dry ash. Took me more than a few minutes to get all the dust off my jeans. Cuts really well. Ran it against a strong XL-76 and the 76 got it's butt kicked.
