Red 3.7 SOLD
If you need more space, I can give it to ya. [emoji38]I went and picked up a “load” of new old parts . I have to say it was a bit overwhelming. There are thousands of nuts ,bolts, screws and springs . I bought all this to patch up a 5200 I have , but now I have way too much stuff . I need more space !
Ran it today. Runs like a raped apeSome may have seen this posted elsewhere but more joy so posting it here.
The joys of rehabbing used saws.
Put seals in a 306a that i got in 2012. Rebuilt carb and then discovered it needed seals so put it on the shelf in 2012 as a get-a-round-tuit-when-i-retire-project. When taking the clutch off found some nimrod had buggered the thread on the shaft. Not much but down below where i could get to it; almost like on purpose.
Oh joy, i get to take my stress out on something. Used a punch and 3# hammer to get it off. Only took hour and half but it came off. Was gonna run a die down the shaft but then realized its a backward thread. As it turned out the damaged threads were at the very top. It seems the crank is harder than the clutch so there was no further damage to the threads from driving it off.
Knocked the top threads down with my dremel and tried to thread the clutch on to clean up the threads. After dressing the top of the shaft some more i got the clutch to screw on. After running it up and down and wire brushing it i finally got it to where i could “finger tighten” it. All told a 30 minute job took 3 hours but now its done.
Gonna test it out tomorrow. Looking through muffler the p&c look excellent. We’ll see. Yes
Go forth and conquer
So i fueled it up and got it started. Then it died. Taking the AF off i saw where the dildo that worked on this previosly mounted the AF and cover with metal screw. What a schmuck!
Anyway, gonna rebuild the carb. Been sitting for seven years so why not?
Also, cant take chain off cause apparently wrong bar or wrong chain. Well, I’ll fix that. Elongated the mounting slot and shortened the butt end. There, fixed
As said before, we’ll see.p
Just discovered no gasket between reed valve case and mount. Some kinda blue goo. No wonder fuel was leaking. Oy vay!

Got a question regarding 306a seals. Is the seal on the oiler critical to replace. Been studying that auto oiler and still not sure how it works
Also, the “tit” on the “cross” that resembles a points contact, how tall is it sposed to be to lift the sprocket looking gizmo. Sorry for terminology but dont have access to my ipl right now
