Two Poulan 3300's

Well , the saws showed up. One is in very good shape with 170 comp. No impulse line and the tank vent line was connected to the impulse nipple on carb. Fixed all that and it starts and runs good. However I think it needs a carb kit as it doesn't idle very well. May also have to do a pressure /vacuum test. Second saw has a slightly scored cylinder on exhaust side and the piston has some scratches and one fairly large gauge on the same side near rings. Cylinder can be cleaned up well enough and I plan to work on the piston and try to smooth out the gauge somewhat. Plan to put it back together and run it but will also do a pressure/vacuum test to see is leaking seals were the culprit.

I have a 2900 farm hand that i was gonna sell. I put a fuel line in it and rebuilt the carb. I did notice that it had a chrome bore. After reading all these posts i think theres a reason i didnt sell!

poulan ???

hey poulan guys!

i have a 2800 that i got for next to nothing. i slowly aquired parts on a shoestring budget and basically turned it in to a nearly stock 3750, at 60cc.
i finished it up today and tried it out with .325 on it (thats what my only drive sprocket was).
these are some nice cuttin' little machines!

it is very hard to find a ready made 3/8 bar for this saw. it can be done by switching out the tip, but the bars are kinda high $.
the question:
is it worth getting the 3/8 setup or should i stick with the .325 and save a bundle of $$?
i feel like the saw will easily pull the 3/8 and probably cut better than the .325 but i'd like the opinion of folks who've run the saws more than i, before spending the dough.

thanks

headed to florida!

Any 095 bar will work, just fix the adjuster holes so the oil can get through. That should lower your price some. I'm biased towards 3/8's, but I would run .325 until it was used up, then swap it out, gives you some time for bargains, you know the drill very well it sounds like. Cut some wood with it!

Hey guys, I have a couple of questions for you. first, what should the coil to flywheel gap be on the 3400-4000 saws be, my book hasnt got here yet. second, i rebuilt the carb on one of my 3700 saws this afternoon and when I tried to start it the thing just dumped fuel so I took the top off and it was dry as a bone, I put it back together and let it sit for a while, now it starts right up idles and runs fine. I would have thought that if the needle was leaking then there should have been fuel in the top, Im confused, any help preventing this would be greatly appreciated.
