to bad ya dont have a before and after video!!!! i almost bought a wild thing locally till i saw that ad for that new in the box 2900 LOL!!! oh and speaking of new in the box how was that pretty 25da ya got for a 100 bucks doin? still keeping it????? *grins*

Volks, the .325 vrs 3/8's is strictly a personal choice as far as I'm concerened. I tested .325 X 8 and 3/8s X 7 on my PP365 and they cut virtually the same.

I also done the same test on a Husky 55 this weekend and come up with the same results. Any difference is very minor.

AS far as 3/8's bars, there not hard to find in the K041 mount, it's just hard to find anything but the cheaper laminated bars.

Like Jeff said its so easy to convert the small Husqvarna K095 bars it's not a big deal.
I'm more interested in the story of how you got the 60cc top end bolted to the smaller case. How about filling us in on that?

cheaper bars are all i want for this project. if there are no real differences in the chain pitch i think i'd like to go to 3/8 .50, as thats what 9/10 of my saws run.
if anyone has an 18" in 3/8 .50 and wants to trade something, pm me. :)

it really isn't difficult. i wanted a 60cc 365 top end (if memory serves you said it was a closer fit... about a year ago). but all i could get cheap was a good used 60cc 3750 cylinder. the 365 and 3750 both use the same piston, so i ordered a new one.
the 2800 case is the same as the 3300 which is 53cc so i figured it was 'big' enough to accept the 60cc cylinder.
the 2800 and the 3300 and the 365 and the 3750 all use the same crank.
clear as mud? :)

the case needs just a bit of clearancing for the piston skirt... about 1mm on each side (by eye). the 3750 cylinder needs the bolt holes massaged a bit to fit the case. the impulse nip on the 3750 needs plugging as the 2800 case has impulse built in. if memory serves the deck height on the cases may have been slightly different... but this part was over a year ago so.........

the 2800 muffler is nearly a direct fit. the bolt holes in the muffler rear need just a tiny bit of egging out.

everything else from the 2800 bolts right up with no problems... carb, intake, top cover, ect.

performance-wise i have done almost nothing. i did match the 3750 cylinder transfers to the transfer notches in the case and removed the inner baffle plate in the muffler but thats it.

and... i did secure a NOS chain brake for cheap! it is really a nicely made accessory. :)

Dave, here is my 40cc 2500 running that same size carb. It runs pretty good, but I think I overported it some. When I get time, I may look at putting a Tillitson HS on it with a almost 16mm ventruri on it.

Hey Mark, I'll bet the Tilly will run awsome. As far as porting went, I went the conservative route, and didn't change timing events, just straightened out the port sides mostly, matched all the gaskets with the openings. I know the wildthing gtg thread had a boat load of good info and some talented people workin on them, so I read through it and did what I was capable of doing.

The S25DA still sits untouched in the carry case, I'd thought about doing a new fuel line, but that would mean putting a screw driver to the perfectly painted screws to partially disassemble the saw, I will never use this saw to cut wood so it makes no sense to start her up, sooooo it stays as it is. Its pretty to look at though. I do search for a nice one from time to time that will I be able to play with.

well be happy u did not buy one this POS listed 3 sold all 3 then turnsaround and sends me a thing saying he messed up an only had one saw!!!!!! and i should cancle my order and he will pay me back on paypal!!!! EBAY specifically says dont cancel unless you have gotton your money back!!!!! this sucks!!!!!

HE can cancel the order. I would let him do that. I had a similar incident, though legitimate for sure. the seller cancelled and my money came back automatically. all i had to do was accept the cancellation.

Too bad you couldn't hold him to it. I thought briefly, but I need another saw right now like I need more snow lol.

yea i woulda but in big letters from ebay it said dont accept the cancle until you have your money back????he wants me to cancle out before i have my money back??? oh well i guess i will get to find out how it all works!!!! he has done this before i contacted one of the folks that left bad feed back they said they got the money back in a week and they had 500 out... i dont really buy and sell that much to know all the ins and outs but my wife and i read that you should only agree to it if you have your money back.... we will see

===.... we will see
(Sorry for the thread-jack, guys. I just hate seeing someone possibly getting ripped off) hmmm. okay - I pulled my old email from eBay. It was all through eBay and was all nice and legit. The seller sent me broken mercendise, but the rest of the situation is the same. The SELLER initiated the cancellation, though. here is what it said: "** recently opened a cancel transaction case for an item your recently purchased: Asus P7P55D-E Pro Intel P55 LGA1156 Sata 6 USB 3.0.

Reason for cancel transaction request: The seller says that you have returned or will be returning the item for a refund.

Click the "Respond now" button to accept or decline this cancellation.

If you don't take action by Dec-26-2010, the seller will be able to cancel the purchase without your consent.

You can view the case anytime in the Resolution Center.

Oh forgot to mention, picked up a 3400 this weekend, just waiting for delivery........

Going to pick these 3 saws up this weekend, 2 Poulan 306's and a 203.:)
Will be my first Craigslist purchase. All have good P/C and compression. 135-140. My question is the 203 an earlier version of the 306? I have never seen one. I'll take some better photos once I get them.

Gregg,

Gregg, I called the guy and could'nt get him to the price I was willing to pay. I'm pretty much a cheap skate any more with the older saws. Can I ask what you paid?

Pretty sure the 203 is a early version of the 306 without an auto oiler. I'm sure Mark will be along shortly to inform us for sure.

I was after the 203 myself but was going for the package deal for the hell of it.

Gregg,

Great pickup Gregg. Craigslist in the DFW area is very poor as far as saws go, or they are overpriced. Don't have a clue re the 203. Even my Repair manual doesn't list it. I'm sure Mark will know.

Gregg,

I do like the original color of the older 306's. That's what I grew up looking at. I'll bet the clutch cover on the saw in the middle says ''Thirty-O-Six" and not "306".

John, I HATE adds that dont list a price, and they are open to offers.. I don't want to offend someone, but don't want to pay to much too, LOL

I offered him $100 for all 3 of them, and he accepted. Maybe to much, who knows. He did check the P/C and compression on them, and were all good.
I was most interested in the 203, since ya just don't see them.
Gregg,
