Anybody know anything about the Super33?

Got it running this morning. Seems like a neat saw for it's age. A lot lighter then it looks, seems well built. Typical slow with lots of torque and smoke.

Were they very common?

Yeah probably fairly common, but if you got the one that was on ebay just recently, it is a uncommon one today to be in that condition.

I had to fight myself off on that ebay one.

All this 5200 talk got me out to break in the new restored 5200 with the half wrap. Cbfarmall/Chris was over and got the honor of putting it to wood for the first time.

Not the one.this one just showed up on the doorstep. Not sure from who.

For the heck of it I mixed some 30W at 16:1 like it says on the saw.Skeeter fogger.

I'll see if I can get some pics tomorrow. It's had very little use.

I may have to paint it green though, looks out of place :)

Good luck with that, that first dibbs stuff don't work. I tried it on some guy who found a Dayton branded 5200 and you see how that worked out. :ices_rofl:

That auger is a nice find, I wonder what brand it is and who made it?

There are no marking that I can find, but possibly a witness mark from an earlier tag. To keep from spamming the Poulan thread, I stuck a bunch of photos here:

I was just curious as I never seen where Poulan offered anything like that. Not saying they didn't just that I have never seen one.

That looks like it was a aftermarket offering and would be just as at home on a XL-12 or several other manual oiler saws.

Nice find no matter what.

What model Poulan / Craftsman fit my needs? [Or most]

  1. 54-57cc
  2. Chain Brake
  3. Inboard Clutch
  4. Rim Sprocket
  5. 20-24" bar

I have had a "Sears Best" 3.3 ... no brake and outboard clutch ... very nice saw.

But I am looking for a Keeper saw with a case that I can keep in my truck.

Help much appreciated !!!

PS- Please list "ALL" the models ... because I want to hunt for one locally.

List thus far:
Poulan Pro 330 / 335 / 3300 / Craftsman 3.3

There is no Poulan saw like that.

Whats the big deal about a inboard clutch? The have as many disadvantages as they do advantages.

And a 24" bar on a 54-57cc saw?

Good luck with that.

Here's a couple of pics of my little Craftsman/Poulans. Don't pay any attention to the clutter in the garage. Smaller one is a Craftsman 1.9/Poulan XX that runs well but has oiler issues. Larger one is the Craftsman 2.1A/Poulan 25DA that Mark just sent me. I'll be swapping in the nice used P/C Mark sent with the saw as soon as I gather up the gaskets, seals, and an air filter element. These saws look like they could be brothers...:D

Thanks for the video Mark! It gave me my 5200 fix for the day.:D
For those of us that never got to see or run one of those when new, thats as close as you can get! Only one minor flaw that I could see. The video was way to short and the wood too small. LOL Great Job!

Its a nice feeling when your hard work finally comes together with the finished product running and in the wood like it was meant to be.

You described the one that I had perfectly except for the very loud part! I had a 31 model also and yes I think they both were common poulans back in the day.

If anyone has a 361 clutch cover lying around, I'd be interested. I'm checking the 'bay as well. Do any other model's covers fit? sorry for the ignorance, but I'm looking to dig one up on the cheap - thx, vic

I don't have a extra one but I know the 400 and 400A should work as well as some of the Daytons from that series. The 401 will work as well but it was a power sharp cover and you don't really want that.

Gregg,

Yes I know but that is about the only wood I got left at the house, going to bring some more home soon as the weather gets better around here.

Gregg,

Wood too small or not, it wasn't hard to tell I had a real animal on my hands!

Mark's 5200

Now I see why everyone wants a 5200. That saw looks beautiful Mark and just burns through that wood. Is that the one that was hanging from the cherry-picker a few weeks back?

Very Nice!

A little update fellas, I brought the saw to work to clean it up as we have two 80HP air compressors and parts washer an all. Anyway she is as clean as she can get, so for ####s and giggles I figure what the heck put some 50:1 mix in and try her out, bam she fired right up, a little carb adjustment and the saw runs mean, it sounds mean as hell too...... Will need more tuning, a plug, air filter, mabe a carb kit, on decel she's a little slow to return to idle. Checked the P&C, no scoring and not a lot of wear that I can see. All AV bushings are good, thing oils like sumbich, probably too much, it was pouring out. Gonna get a new clutch cover, this one is cut out for a bow guide and oil splashes off the chain and all over the muffler. Also see Sugercreek has 4900 decals.

Mark I didn't know you had a bid in, Lol sorry, anyway I figured I'd email the guy just to see what he wanted for the saw since he said it was listed in a local ad, figure mabe he'll end it early as he stated if it sold locally if I offer to buy it now for the asking price, if the price wasn't too rediculious, he said he didn't know what the saw was worth but $100 an it's yours, I almost broke my keyboard trying to reply to him.

No biggie, I just didnt think that they could end a auction with bids on it. If he was selling local and not haveing to ship it I could understand his actions, if not then he should have to let the auction finish.

Just my thinking.
