Haha well Boys, unfortunately I didnt find any 245s or 4200and up saws. I starting to think they never sold them in MASS!
I did get 4 25 saws. 1 CVA with the wrist pin in muffler, 2 25's, comp felt good and an S25DA...with a good P/C!! Finally! I also got 2 PP 335's. One is missing the airfilter assembly. Both good compression, both real nice replaceable tip .325 bars. Real happy about these.
25s

Nice score although I was hoping to see ya with a dump truck full of saws!!!:hmm3grin2orange:
Did you try and start any of em yet?

I could have ha a DT full but I passed on the rest. I dont want any super 2s, mini macs, or plastic saws. No havent tried them yet. But I will tomorrow!

Hey Joe,i got a real NICE looking s25da,thats siezed up.
would make your runner into a looker also.

Re arranging some shelves in the shop to try to make more room i pulled some saws down and thot my five prime examples of the poulan brand would make a picture..
dont know how many more i have of the green ones and a lot more in other colors,so these are just repesentative.

the 4200 needs a sprocket BAD !! if anybody has a decent one to part with let me know.

Whats up guys, I picked up this S25DA a few days ago, and must say it doesn't look like it was used much. One big problem though, the piston is scored, it has a decent scratch on the exhaust side. Compression seems really good, cylinder looks good from what I can see. Will need fuel lines, has a Walbro WA19 carb with 5/76 stamped on the carb. So I'll assume it's 1976 saw. I had the perfect B&C just waiting for this saw. Actually this thing is almost as nice as my NOS s25da. Also missing the throttle handle rubber, and carb cover gasket. So does anyone have any nice s25 pistons layin around or should I try to clean this one up.

Sweet!

What should I offer a fella for a little 25 that felt like it had good compression and everything was there except the bar and chain?

Nice score Dave. Ive had one in almost as nice shape, same thing blown p/c. I finally found one yesterday. But I bought 2 before it sight unseen and both were worse than mine!

Actually surprised this saw has the Walbro WA19 instead of the Tillotson HU10 carb??

My Craftsman 2.1A/Poulan 25DA has the Walbro carb. It's always possible that the carb was swapped out sometime in the last 35+ years. When I worked for Sears Service, we'd often swap a new carb in if a quick rebuild of the original didn't "take". It made sense from a shop time/parts cost standpoint. The Walbro could have been a "service replacement substitute" part number for the Tillotson.

3400

I bought a 3400 new in 1982 and have always regretted selling it. Finally made it right. New fuel lines, a carb clean, a muffler mod and it's ready to join my PP 375.

I know EXACTLY how you feel Nardoo!

I bought my 3400 in 1980 and it was my only saw until some lowly scum sucking, carrion eating, dog living, parasite infested piece of human garbage stole it in 1995.
The karma of my world was never really right until I replaced it in 2007.
I don't use that saw very much these days but just the fact that it is sitting there in the shed waiting, should the need arise, puts me back at ease. (Kinda like Linus VanPelt in the "Peanuts" comic strip and his security blanket!LOL)

Great looking saw! I have always liked the look of the worn paint on a metal handle. Partially tells the story of the previous owner and its use.

Al, I like that picture! :msp_thumbsup: Like you and Mike, my 3400 I bought new in spring of 1986. Was the only saw I had, until 2008. Sadly, mine hasn't even been started, in the last couple of years.
And yesterday, I finally got around to putting a carb kit in my 375's Zama carb, and got that running great! The 375 along with a 4000 will likely get used alot this year in my wood cutting chores. I hope you notice what brand of bar is on my 3400 back then. LOL

I agree Mitch. My 'read' on that one (based on the 'wear pattern') is that the PO wore leather gloves and used the manual oiler a lot. Good man...

Thanks for the kind comments gents. Yep, this 3400 hasn't been used in ten years but will see a lot of cutting this winter - just for old times sake. And GB bars are very common here in Australia - I use them partly out of patriotism and partly beacause they are a fine bar.

Yes the wear marks are neat and the PO used the manual oiler alot as the auto oiler does not work. I thought I would fix it with a clean up of the diaphragms but there are a number of parts missing in the pump. Someone had it apart at some point but I am working on it. I don't really mind if it is only a manual oiler - kind of remind me of earlier times.

Thanks to everyone for the impetus to go chasing Poulans again.

Well I've been trying to slow down long enough to post this and it looks like I will have a few minutes to sit so here goes.............I hope!!!
