i think i saw that saw on fleabay last week. is that the one? came with a runner companion saw? i wanted it but got too expensive for me for now. glad you got them.

nah - not ebay - I found this one locally. I put adds in the local CL sometimes and this guy hit me up. I think between this and other most recent one I picked up, I should have a great runner, with a bow bar, and some good parts.

Need help on a 2150

I am trying to get this poulan 2150 up and running. The primer bulb is missing and I can't figure out where the fuel line goes into the tank. I can only locate one hole. Also need the air filter cover.

I'm going from memory as its been a while since I worked on a 2150. However the principle for primer bulbs is generally the same. One nipple from the primer bulb is for the fuel return line that normally fits into a hole in the tank. I believe its under the carb or somewhere around there. The other nipple is the suction side that draws fuel from the fuel tank via the carb(the suction line goes onto one side of the carb and on the other side of the carb, the fuel line is attached). In other words the primer sucks fuel out of the tank and into the carb. That fuel line hole should be clearly visible.

Page 2, Item 15., air purge assembly. All the little plastic Poulans have a primer bulb, for better or worse.

Yup, I've fixed/replaced the fuel lines on four 2150s(ish) and they all used a purge bulb to suck fuel from the carb and return it to the tank. 'Primer' is a misnomer!

The return port in the tank is in the extreme forward right hand corner lookin down into the carb box. The supply port is on the left hand side nearly centered.

On the return line, you should have found a tiny hose barb in the end inside the tank. The barb provides a positive seal by pulling the fuel line with barb up against the inside of the tank. Kind of like a cork. The supply line is a tad smaller than the return and both can be gotten at your local Sears service center. Enough line to do two saws.

2150 Poulan

I found the hole for return line. Some one has put a sheet metal screw in it. The bulb and line are missing, the line with the filter is in the tank to carb and a line from the carb to where the bulb is suppose to be. I guess someone tryed to run it without a bulb. Now if I can find a air filter cover, but I probably need to see if it will run first. It seems to have good compression. Thanks for the help

this one came in a pile with an XL12, Poulan XX, a cool electric hedge trimmer - old and all metal, a less-cool but still old and neat craftsman electric chainsaw, and a POS Partner that I can't even give away. I think the lot was around $120 -- too much for what I got, but not too much for what I thought I was getting (??).

Ahh, thats what I forgot! You were looking for a flywheel for that XX correct?

In my defense I have been working alot and even had to work Sunday...

If you still need one let me know and I'll check tomorrow after work. I have a couple of those XX's on the project shelf but I think I have a couple parts saws I could steal one from.

I did get some time to check C/L this weekend and made a deal for a 4200 that appears to be in good shape except it has no spark. I have another C/L deal pending also. !

I am working on a guys house and his father had a tree co. then him and his brother took it over for a while.

He opened the back of his ford van that he hauled his lumber home in and I seen a 395xp and a 272 sitting in there. I thought hmmm, a husky guy. I asked him where the nails were and he said in the back of the other van so I went over and opened the door and just about shi! my pants!!! There sat a 5400, 5200, 4000, 3700, 3400, couple s25's, 2000, dayton 21'' chainsaw (AKA poulan 361) and a couple of others that I can't remember what they were.

I grabbed the nails and went over to where he was and said you did'nt tell me you were a poulan guy he say's oh yea there's a few more over there in that truck box so I had to go look what was in there and seen another 3400, wildthing, 1800, maybe another s25 and more that were not poulans.

I explained to him that I am a SAW FREAK and really like the older POULANS and asked him where he ever got the 5400. He replies with, "which one is that?'' and I said the newer big poulan and he says he bought it new at the local coast to coast when they were still in buss.

I still can't get over the fact that I search for a 5400 on a regular basis on CL and there is one setting less than 3 miles from my house. I really liked my 5400 and should've kept it. I can already tell he's not going to come off of any of his saws just by the way he acts but I am thinking about seeing if he's interested in comming to the poulan lovers gtg if none of you guys care.

John, You about gave me a heart attack! LOL Reading your post, I thought you were going to end up with a truck load of big old Poulans!!! :msp_biggrin:

A friend of mine was at a farm consignment auction last fall, said there was a Big Green saw that went cheap. He didn't know what model it was, but thought of me when when it sold. I told him whenever your at a sale, and any Big Green saws go up for sale, buy it! I'll settle with ya later! LOL

I still hope to have a Poulan GTG sometime this year yet. Whenever we can get most of the guys together. Your new Poulan guy friend is more than welcome. :msp_biggrin:
Heck, your not that far away, your more than welcome to come out and run some saws, some weekend. It has dried up some what around here, sure better than it was a month or so ago. The problem now, is the skeeters, they like all the wet weather we had.

Gregg,

To hell with them skeeters!!!

I've got a can of deep woods Off!!!!!
Anyway they don't really eat that much and I could sure afford to lose the weight!!!LOL
We are ready when you are!

Mike

Can't stand the skeeters either but still may take ya up on that one of these days.

I wish I could get them poulans but I never even asked figured it would be a waste of time but ya never know, I'm gonna be out there for a couple of weeks at least.:msp_wink:

Yep, That works too! Last summer I tried some kinda fogger that you spray in the area you working in, instead of on you. It actually worked pretty well.

Gregg,

Mix question ?

Can one of the old Poulan gurus tell me what the proper mix is for the 4000 ?
Sticker on the saw says 1/2 pint to a gal of gas..128 oz. /8 oz. = 16-1Doesn't sound right. 40 :1 or 50: 1
???

I've been using 40/1 in all my saws with premium gas and fully synthetic oil like, Stihl Ultra in the silver bottle. Back in the early 80's I used to use 16/1 mix in my 3400 but now find 40/1 to work well esp. with newer oils.

Yep, I agree with Bob. I run Woodland Pro synthetic from Baileys, at 40:1 in all my stuff. New & old, weedeater too. Thats what I ran in my gas R/C airplanes also, been awhile though.

I have several 4000's. There probably my favorite "all around saw". I used to use dino oil at 32:1 in em. You'll find they smoke alot less also with syn. 40:1. if at all.
