Eh guys, been tryin to get some project saws together that have been layin around for quite some time. I been workin on my 3700, it's mostly back together but I'm missing a few parts, so if anyone has 3400-4000 parts in stock that you may not need, I an in need of two AV buffers,a choke handle, a complete clutch assem, an oil cap, and a bar adjustment screw. If anyone has em let me know what you want for em. Thanks

Here is the saw I'm speaking of.....

1) Go ahead and pony up the $10.00 for the right tool! You will thank me later.
Don't cut slots in the adj. needle heads, a little birdie told me you can NEVER adjust them while running if you do. Screwdriver just will NOT stay in the slot!!!
2) They should start with 1-1 and 1/4 off the seat
3) I just reach in my "plug jug" and pull one out! Never got too twisted over the number on it.

+1 on the tool. Any other way way drive you nutz.
If you modded the mufflers, 1 and a quarter will not come close. Get the low side where it pops off idle nice and smooth, then adjust the high side like any other saw. DO NOT COUNT the number of turns, just do it. This is not the way to do any other Poulan or any other saw, but it is this way for these.
I have several, and for any two of them I don't have enough fingers to count turns until seated. 3-3.5 L/2.5-3 H
CJ7Y's work nicely.

Let me look

I think I may be able to shed some light on this. The bow was definitely not original, the original owner had an 18" b/c on it. The 2nd owner trimmed the clutch cover and installed the bow. The bow was originally Poulan green, you can see the green coming through the gray in spots. Hope this helps everyone sleep easier. :D

Either way it looks like a saw that is in very good shape! BTW I slept like a baby last night.

Wife is having a b#tch because my work area in the basement looks like this:...........Lol,,,, Been tryin to get things together, but unfortionatly I realise I may have too many saws and might be out growing my current (shop).........

You're not the only one with a mess like that... I've got stuff all over the barn, everything from a Pioneer and a few Macs to a 317 with its engine pulled and torn down on the table. Not to mention some tools and #### spread all over the barn.

Pretty soon, I'll have a wooden shipping crate set up behind the barn, and that will become a temperature controlled environment for saws and parts and parts of parts. It'll be painted and have a little roof as well. Ventilation system to help keep the humidity and such low when summer comes around.

I had the Poulan out, but boxed her up shortly after taking those photos and put her on a shelf for now. Don't want her to get all dirty again, I spent quite a bit of time with degreaser to clean those plastics off...

If them was my saws they would be on them shelves in the background and the other stuff would be on the floor...

posted couple weeks ago concerning my "new" 2150PR Predator and PP4218AVX saws. i ordinarily wouldn't give the time of day to these saws but got a great deal on them and would like to get them going so i can maybe sell them (prolly won't though, find it real hard to let go of any saw once its in my hands).
cleaned out the carb on the 2150 and can get it to run at WOT but won't idle. i'm just gonna go ahead and ask the stupid question. when i took the carb apart i counted turns for the H and L settings so i could put it back the way it was. the L was set at 1-1/2 turns out; the H was set at 2-1/8 turns out. that seems rather excessive to me. also, not having any experience with newer saws, i was surprised to see the H and L screws are domed and splined rather then flat with slots. i'm guessing these prolly had some type of limiter cap on them? correct? so, my questions are?
1. since there are no caps, how have others' handled the adjustments? not really wanting to use plyers but don't have a dremel to cut slots with.
2. what are the correct, initial settings for the L and H screws?
3. what are the correct plugs for these saws?
thanks for any advice.

Some of the 42cc versions I've worked on, with the stock carb I've also noticed the insane amount of turns on both screws to get the saw to run properly. On my Ported Wild Thing I replaced the stock carb with a WT-285 carb from a old Poulan 2900 46cc, the carb venturi is 13.5mm, while the stocker is 11.11mm, the saw runs fine with the standard 1- 1¼ turns, and runs like a bandit WOT. Not a direct bolt on though and requires a little bit finagleing.

I think he meant the damage was impressive.

Ah, I see. It is quite impressive. Some groundie in the tree crew must've straight gassed it.

I hope all of the saws that I am supposed to get from this source aren't the same way... man, that's a lot of pistons and/or cylinders to find and install... :dizzy:

Aw man... I was hoping to hear this thing run tonight... :msp_sad:

She's all scored to hell. WARNING: This pic will not be a reduced size... so it'll show very clearly what's scored up and how bad...

197770d1315176616-poulan-3100-cylinder-piston-jpg

As you can see, I will be lucky if the cylinder can be saved with acid and q-tips... piston is obviously toasted beyond repair.

Apparently, it automatically sizes pics... if you want to see the damage closer, click on the attachment link... you can zoom in on that pic.

Also, the culprit in causing all of this damage was the intake boot... when I separated the cylinder and the case, I was surprised that the intake boot was no longer attached to the cylinder...

It broke down and separated right at the clamp on the cylinder...

So... if anyone has some parts for this Poulan, let me know. I'm quite eager to get this one running... it looks like it would love a bigger top end, complete with porting...

If you decide to give up on that thing give me a holler.

Oh, I ain't gonna give up on it... I want to find out just how well one of these with some porting and muff modding can run...

Anyone know if the cylinder and piston off of a PP 365 would fit? The outside of the saw looks like mine, with some graphic design changes.

If it is, I might be able to find a piston and cylinder for a decent price... :blob2:

that's right - that's a good example of a rough p&c.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Perhaps you could agree to stay out of her hobby room if she would stay out of yours? Just keep the gasoline out of the house.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

I know bout the gas, unfortunatly most saws still have mix in em, that blue container has Kerosene in it for heating the basement in the winter.

I like all that green in that picture!

I would have to tell my wife that if she stayed in the kitchen she wouldnt have to look at the basement!

Looks like you are ready for a bigger shop though, good luck with that.

Welcome back MM! My wife brought up the saws once. Then I walked her up to her 3 closets (yup she has 3) and I pointed to her shoe collection and Louis vuoton bags. I haven't heard about the saws since. I did use my pp395 a lot this weekend along with my freshly done 25cva and Dolmar 540. No pic from those jobs tho. I did run the 395 alOng side my bil's 460 rancher and not only did it not have the guts of the poulan, it seemed to vibe way more and felt awkward to me.
