Not chainsaw related, but Poulan related. My pop in law went and bought a Poulan Pro BVM200 blower, he asked me about it, and I checked the Lowes reviews on it, and with 37 reviews it has 2 good reviews, the rest sounded like they were very frustraited and most only averaged about 6 months total use before it went caablewy or some other catastrophic issue happend. The reviews sound like the usual very hard to start, runs very hot, almost imposible to start after running longer than a half hour. I'm gonna assume this is all due to the insanely lean condition these engine are setup with at the factory.

My question is, of course I can adjust the carb for him, but with a small blower engine how, do the same techniques apply as with a chainsaw?? Also I'm thinking instead of him running a 40:1mix, run a 32:1 mix to be safe, or would this just cause more carbon build up??

A buddy of mine bought one of those blowers.
I set his carb to where it would just four-stroke once in a while.
It WAS very lean to start.
Not really any NEED to run more than 40:1 as they don't have the kinds of loads that a saw or trimmer does....but it wouldn't hurt.
I'd just run my saw fuel in it to keep down on the amount of fuel cans sitting around.

Thanks Mike, appreciate the response will do the same.

Another project that wasnt quite as represented. :givebeer:

I have been looking for a slick 3000 for sometime and ran across this one. They said it ran, well yes it will for a few seconds before it dies. They didnt show the right side of the saw, what the hell happend to this clutch cover? :ices_rofl: And yes it was shipped with this bar and chain on it as well. Wonder how well it cut, that is when it used to run.....

The bright side is that the P/C are perfect, like new! The oiler puts out like the prom date of your dreams and it has a rim and drum setup on it as well. It also didnt cost a whole bunch either.

So I think "when" I get time, I'll go through the fuel system and find a new clutch cover for it. It will get a muffler mod and a new bar tip to replace the bananna nosed one thats on it now.

Should end up quite well.

Most people don't care much for the banana nosed bars but I have 2 or 3 saws with them and I don't think I'll change them because I don't use one particular saw enough to flip the bar over to even out the wear. The chain is the main thing with me, I very much dislike most of the 'safety' chains they're coming out with now. I have one on my Echo 550 but doubt if it's original, at least I can't find any info to state that.

help 3400 3700 cylinder problem

ok so i found a piston and cylinder for my 3400 saw. Got it off ebay, came in and UH OH something doesn't look like. The new piston is slightly larger so i measured it, sure enough the new one is the top end of a 3700 saw. So i have a 3400 chainsaw, that needs a new top end, and i have a 3700 piston and cylinder, can i simply put this together with the bigger top end? will it run/work ok? carb settings? carb big enough?
thank you

Yep. It's a direct swap. Same carb. Give you a few more cc's.

Yes Sir!!!

You hit the jackpot there.
Now you get a workhorse of a 61cc saw instead of a workhorse of a 56cc saw.

Poulan 4000 P/C

just in case anyones a lookin I think I found a 4000 P/C on ebay, it was mislabeled as soming else, it has a best offer attached to it, I contacted the seller to let him know it was wrong, but he didn't change it. Something like 67.99 or best offer. (thin ring says 4000 on it used looks good)

Pm if you need info, on it, its not mine, and know nothing about seller, but seller has lots of parts.

Well, I just inherited a 2300 that my father swears has loose/worn crankshaft "bushings" and is hard to start. Guess I'll just be replacing the fuel line and rebuilding the carb and hopefully a saw that looks brand new doesn't really have slop in the crank assembly.

Well, heal up soon man! Those look like almost clean shiny new! Just think, soon the ground will be frozen and you can go out and start dropping huge trees and wrestling 400 lb rounds and..well..err...maybe *not*

I think those are a good size saw for a guy with hernia issues! Keep ya honest! No *temptations*. Take it easy, the wood ain't going no place....

nice!!!!

i did not know you could do that on the micros is it a direct swap on the coil to make it solid state? did you have to change the flywheel also????i know it dont work on the 25 da saws you have to do alot of modifying... good work and yea those are very shiney saws!!!
