Well not quite like that.
Pioneer was pretty much folded by 1984. They got rolled into Partner at that time till almost 1988. The Pioneer saws like the big P series saws production was moved from Peterbrough to the Electolux owned EMAB factory in 1984 and were produced there till 1988when Pioneer was officially put to rest.
The Poulan Pro line was started in 1988 and the big Poulan Pro saws like the PP655 were made in the EMAB Huron Park plant where the Pioneer/Partner saws were made for some time. I am under the understanding that the machinery from the EMAB plant was finally moved to Shreveport LA where some final ones were made at the Poulan plant but I cannot confirm that yet.
So yes most 655's were made at the same plant that the Pioneer/Partner saws were made but the was actually no Pioneer company left at that time.
Figured you'd find something to nitpick over. Didn't personally feel like writing a damn book. Looks like a Pioneer design to me. Not a Poulan.
:hmm3grin2orange: You know how I am!
Yep for sure a Pioneer design but at the time they were made there was no such thing as Pioneer anymore so they couldnt have been made by Pioneer.
There great ones no matter what.
Aint you up past your bed time anyway you ole coot?

You tryin' to tell me what time to go to bed now? It's early yet. Why don't you go out to the shop and tear something down and put it back together just for the fun of it before your bedtime.
You two find a corner each and keep your azzes in it until you can play nice!!!
Don't MAKE me come in there!

Thanks man, I suppose I need to tune it to idle to ear. There is no spec for the idle rpm, at least it has the WOT as 12,600rpm's. That will help.I appreciate your help so much! Have a great week!
Tommy
Got the later link for the owner's manual. Got the kit in the carb, replaced fuel line, and impulse line. Got it cranked and tuned the carb. Started at 1 round out from lightly seated. It cranked, idled and ran out fine. I set the top end according to factory spec with my tach.
Seemed to be a smooth running little saw. THEN, I got it out today to run it and it will crank and idle for 5-7 seconds and then it dies.
If you try to tap the throttle it dies as well. I just tuned three saws in the last week and no problem - - can you Poulan guys help me
tweek this saw? (My hair is pushing back and I don't wanna start yankin on it!:msp_sneaky. Thanks
Was working on my PP 405. Rebuilt carb but I noticed it was bogging in the cut. It has a Walbro WJ carb and apparently it has a governor, though IPL calls it an accelerator pump. Removed it and found it was different from other governed carbs I've seen but I decide to block it off in the usual way. Saw now runs great with tons of power. In fact, I believe its stronger and faster than my 4000. Kind of surprised me seeing how the cc's are almost the same. Guess those Pioneer/Partner saws are real runners.

got pix? xcuse my ignorance but i'm not knowing what the usual way is. thanks
whats a decent looking and decent running 4200 countervibe worth? i'm going to look at one in the next few days and i'd like to make a good deal. thanks
