Do the bars your talking about look like this one?

This is a 36" .404 but you noticed I never said how it works for sure with this setup, because frankly this saw has not been started since I restored it. :D

I think it will do ok with it and I intend to fire it up someday when I get time and find out. Might have to wait till I retire though. :ices_rofl:

What are the NOS 28" bars you speak of? Are they the same style as this? If you found a stash of them and the price is right I might be in the market for one or two. After you get yours of course. I could put one on this saw and move this 36" .404 on to my PP655.

I used the a 32'' .404 on one of my 5400's and it pulled it with a attitude!:D

She's quite understanding when it comes to my toys. They keep the house warm so I get a free pass on my toys.

OK, good deal, bad deal? Not too far from me.

20 inch POULAN 3400 chainsaw commercial 2 saws runs strong

Got them. He also threw in the Homie SXL and the parts. The saws were dirty as all get out but ran well. One of the bars and both chains were pretty bad so I bargained him down and got the extras thrown in.

No problem, glad they're something you can use. I need something a lot bigger. I still have 20 some odd trees down on the farm that I have to buck to lumber lengths and pull out of the woods. At least 10 of them are 30"+ in diameter.

Nice score, and runners!

I got a homie 240 all tore down today and just lacks the right size fuel line now, so put that aside. Man are those things harder to work on next to the poulans... Still had some time, so pieced together a nice runner (well, hopefully, it runs well from a prime but didn't put fuel in the tank yet) XXV from three junkers (the xxv, a 250 super for a clutch cover and bar/oiler/chain plate and mystery chunk of saw for an adjuster). All I lack on that now is a muffler and it should be ready to rock! It's *tiny*. Hopefully one of my other small poulan bars and chains fits, need to look that up, make sure they are compatible.

All of the small top-handle bars will bolt up to the XXV. Just make sure chain/drive sprocket/bar sprocket (if there) pitches all match! The Oregon A041 mount is what you want. Here's Acres' listing of it:

Bar Mount Pattern: 03

Thanks! I have an 1800 with a roached top end. I'll just swap the whole deal, sprocket, bar and chain, over to the xxv mix and match saw. Hmm, that'll make it a 4 saw frankensaw then!

Doing a quick search back through this thread, I think I found the part # for crank seals for my 4000. I think this is correct, but does anybody(cough, Mark), know for sure if Timken part # 253747 correct?

Nick

compression???

what would the average to good compression be on a poulan 3700??? or a 375pp???? 120 is on the low side is it not?????????

The Micro saws (1800, etc) take a different sprocket than the XXV saws.

Thanks, I will for sure check all that out. I guess I am still confused over the various small poulans. This one today is loads smaller than the 1800 or 2000 I have. I guess I thought of that as "micro". I'll have to look at a lot of pictures of the various smaller ones at acres site.

It varies. As others have said, the 3400-4000 saws dont put up super high comp numbers. That being said, they run good between 115-150psi. 115 probaly being on the low side. I have
(1) 3400-135psi
(2) 4000s one in pp395 colors- the 4000 has no base gasket and that saw was low hour, 160psi, pp395 has 140psi
(2) 3700s one in red/black- both thin ring both in the high 140s

thanks!
