lol, I'm not buying, all ready have one of those on my 380. Have one of the Poulan green laminated bars for it also, as a back up. So, I'm good for now on bars for the 380 type saws. They are nice bars. Have replaceable sprocket nose's on em. Although I have never had to replace a nose on a bar YET. ;)

Gregg,

That 380 is a lot nicer looking than mine. Mine was put through a lot before I got it. Wish I knew a way to remove all the scuffs from the yellow part. The black I think I can handle, I just repaint. Nice saw, OhioGregg.

plastic refurb

You can buff plastics using automotive buffing compounds and a wheel or buff pad. It works pretty well, you just need to be careful not to melt it. Sand with 220-320 with an orbital to remove big scratches then work your way down in grits, then buff. Easy peasy. Fry an old cover to get the hang of it. :msp_thumbup:

By working your way down in grits, the numbers get higher. I prefer to stop when I get to 3800, otherwise I'm likely to drop the saw when my hands sweat a little. And I wouldn't want to damage the finish on the saw.....

Up...you're right.

Although.....If guy has regularly sweaty hands... Maybe he should go down in grits. :)

The 655BP has a different style of porting referred to as Boost Ports.
Some that I have talked to don't seem to think it actually gave a lot more power in the cut while others say it is significantly stronger.

I will say that they command a premium in value to collectors. ($100.00 or more depending)

Mike any way to tell w/o pulling cylinder? Even then I wouldn't know what the diff is. My PP655 is in good shape but decals are shot so I have no way of telling.

I wonder if that will take the fading out of it as well?

It should since you are basically taking a thin layer of material off. Once you get the plastic cleaned up to your liking, throw a coat of wax on it and look for a bottle of Aerospace 303. That is a non-greasy UV inhibitor that has numerous uses on all forms of plastic and rubber. It's nothing like Armor-all.

This Poulan I have isn't nearly as faded as my Husqvarna 350, it seems that orange fades worse than other colors.

Fading all has to do with UV light. Plastic is very prone to UV damage, which can range from fading to becoming brittle and cracking.

I'm not sure Bob.
Mark or timberdollars would be the ones to ask about that.
You might want to ask in the Partner thread also.

Somebody here posted a video showing how to distinguish between BP and non-BP saws. There are differences in the number and size/shape of the cylinder fins that can be spotted without a full teardown IIRC. I think it was either Teddyscout or CPR that posted it.

Yep, pull the muffler cover off and the boost port is directly opposite of the exhaust port. With the piston at BDC if you look through the cylinder and either it's there or not. BTW, the boost port will be an open transfer port or just a tunnel on the other side of the muffler.

Takes 5 min at the most.

Thanks. I'll look.

Poulan S25CVA

Anyone know the part number for the annular buffer that sits between top handle and the saw on the clutch side? Mine is shot and I tried gluing it to the metal bracket but it didn't hold. I used a strong contact cement but no dice. All my IPLs for the s25da don't cover the CVA model.

well my quest to revive my 2 wild things has hit a snag. i got my first piston for my 2375,its too big, measured mine at 37mm(36cc) the one sent i believe is for the 40/42cc one. tryed it in my 4018wt(40cc) still too big. so its for a 42cc? part number530069605

well got my 4018 piston in,too small! too small even for the 36cc! part number530071833,same num for all oem 4018 saws?! plus the 4018 is a stato with transfers? cut in the piston .this new one had none?!

i found part numbers 530069605 = 42cc piston?
53006904=36cc piston i believe are for the 2375 version

i also found the number 530071408 = possible a 42cc piston?

whats going on?!

Well I got the 5400 together and went to fire it up and nothing, somewhere in the re assemble I lost spark so I replaced the coil and nothing. When I tested this saw it had spark so somewhere I lost it. I do have another electronic ignition module so I may have to tear it down again and replace that.
I also started cleaning up the other good 8500 and found that it is in better shape than the one I have running so I may put it together first but will have to use the clutch cover and starter from my 5400. If I wasn't waiting on a 041super I would pick up a few clutch covers and a starter.
