The 3400-3700-4000 chassis is a classic saw design, and ahead of the competition at the time. If thats not your opinion, you are not much of a saw guy, in my opinion. And it replaced a very good series of saws also.

Aw Jeff, I might not be much of a saw guy but the onliest new saw I ever bought was a 3400 in 1982. I sold it years ago but in my never-ending quest for old Poulans found it again last month. It was in a small township about 20 miles from me and I was really happy to see it again!
I have spent the past couple of weekends cleaning it up and I think of all my older Poulans, it is in the nicest condition. All I need do is find a banana bar for it and it will be complete. I have a few 3400's that I use for cutting so it can be a shelf queen. I'll post up a pic soon.

And thanks again for the parts - rep sent!

Al.

Welcome DB, that is a very nice early version of a 306 bow saw. You dont see that style cover often and I'm not 100% sure that its not actually from the prior 200 series saws. Hard to tell with the old Poulans though as stuff just run together sometimes.

Sharp looking saw there, DB. I dream of having one someday, but I have to wait until Mark's estate sale when I can buy his newly acquired near NOS example. But hopefully I don't buy it in the next few years.....lol

Good luck but there are two good friends who will be dispersing my collection for the widow. They will both get a couple of picks for themselves first so I would be surprised if that one ever hits the open market.

You best get looking for your own now. :hmm3grin2orange:

Only the good die young; Mark is going to live forever

Thanks, I think? :D

Here is my latest Poulan a 50th anniv 2175. This think can't have more than a tank or 2 through it. The bar has nearly no paint loss. I did have to replace all the fuel lines as they were dry and crumbly.

Thats a real nice 2175 you have there!:msp_thumbup: I have or had one. Not quite as nice. I only used it a few times to trim trees here in the yard. Great running little saw, and light too. Several years ago, my cousin wanted to "barrow" a saw. So I gave him the 2175 to use. I havn't seen it since...so I guess he liked it too!:msp_ohmy:

That's what I was figuring. But hey, its not like I'm wishing you kick the tree stump in order to acquire it. I couldn't do that to a fellow Hoosier.:hmm3grin2orange:

got the fuel tank fitting yesterday Attn. Mark

So are we duplicaing the part exactly, or are we adding an additional barb "behind" the thread. Refresh my memory.... It's looking like I will
be able to run them mid-march.

This is mostly for Wagnerwerks, since he's a German car junkie also, but he asked for pics. This is only posted because these are my other vice. Buy em used and let somebody else take the initial depreciation.

Nice cars, but the coupe wouldn't last very long on the road I live on. A four wheel drive is what you need in southern Indiana, that's how our state was able to save so much money.

Poulan 3400

Pics and details in the classifieds if anyone is interested. I have a few too many saws and can't keep them all.

No kidding, when we go to Bloomfield, we leave that car at home. It wouldn't even make it up my brother-in-law's driveway.

That's very nice and a fair price. Now where is a newbie posting asking "which cheap good generic firewood saw should I get"? post...I'd point 'em thataway.

Is yours the Illinois version with the factory turn signal delete? Lol

Only when I'm on the racetrack or my wife is driving. Although it seems to me like pick up trucks in Indiana didn't get equipped with turn signals and have 45mph speed limiters installed.

After Nardoo's consult, the 2775 running ok even without the flywheel key.Now i am wondering for something else.At this moment, the saw has 20" bar with .325 pitch and 7 tooth spur.I believe that this is too much for this saw.I'm thinking to replace the bar with one 20" again (i want to keep that size) but with 3/8 pitch and the 7 tooth spur with 6 tooth spur. Will this change give a little boost to the saw or i will waste my time?

It is what it is. 3/8 low pro (Oregon vxl) and the standard spur (6 tooth) will work, but you won't win any races.
14-16" bar, and these are happy saws.

My BILs does. Of course his also came with the Sopranos starer kit witch includes a new york accent (even though he was born in mass) a tough guy attitude (even though hes never been in a fight or on a team). Sorry for the rant guys, but this clown brags about not having calluses on his hands. Just not how i was raised. On the bright side I KNOW HE WILL NEVER ASK TO BORRo W MY TOOLS MUCH LESS MY POULANS!
PS I have nothing against german cars or tools.
