Nice haul there, Al! So, was that a shop you got those from?

Nick

Nick,
It is a scrap metal yard. The owner is a great fellow that saves the saws for me. There were another half dozen Solos, Macs and Homelites that I passed on - he will let another collector have those but he allows me first pick because I repair his saws. He also had a nice Be-bo there but I already have one.
Best part is the price. I fix his stuff for free - he gives me the stuff I want free. It is a symbiotic relaionship!

Al.

If I ever see ya along the road, I'll give you boys a tow home with my yuppie land cruiser... It's almost broken it at 275K miles:)

Poulans are an American Exception. In MY humble opinion. :msp_thumbup:

LOL, A fellow I worked for back years ago had a soft top Toyota Land cruiser that was actually a pretty decent off road vehicle, I will admit. But, I just could not see myself in a "Yota" lol, So ordered a brand new 1979 AMC Jeep CJ5 in summer of 1978 from the factory. Got it pretty much bare bones, so I could add to it, what I wanted over time.

Was a great vehicle, just couldn't haul much, especially passengers..LOL Another thing I liked about it, being a Ford guy, was that the whole ignition system it was Ford Motorcraft. Was the only non Ford vehicle I have ever bought.
Hate gettin off topic here, not Poulan related, but here is a pic of my jeep.:)

Gregg,

Still ain't got this picture thing figured out yet, and yes, I am beyond help......

Randy, we will talk and I'll walk you though it, no problem.

Looks like somebody is testing out a new New Holland tractor and loader!

Mike

Yeah that was the last outing a while back and thats my son running it. It's the handiest thing since sliced bread for this old guy.

That was the outing where the boy and I were running the Dolmar 5100 and the Poulan 3000 side by side.

The 3000 showed itself to be quite capable.

Pro 335 piston

Is there a difference between a PP335 and a 335. I'm fooling with one off eBay that didn't have fire that I figured was a coil which I guess it is. However, it wouldn't have run anyway with 70# compression. I've pulled the muffler and the piston is scored so I guess I'll need to replace it. I'm seeing the saws identified variously as PP335 & 335. I just want to be sure I get the correct part so any help there would be appreciated. This saw says made in Shreveport and Acre's list says Nashville. I'm a little confused. I've got plenty of saws to run but I just wanted to do a little tinkering so the Poulan's have got my attention right now. Advise is appreciated.

A 335 is a 335. There all Poulan Pro or PP 335's.

Now there could be there are different "Type" numbers on those though. Seems Joe just found there were both 1 and 2 ring pistons in his, and that would be new to me but again if thats the case they would probably have a different type nuimber on the saw.

I'm pretty sure my 335 has a one ring piston in it.

I only have one PP335 IPL and its from 2000 and doesnt show any differnet type #'s on it. It shows the piston kit as 530010989 and that number has been superceded to 530071321 and is $48.

At least I know what beer to bring to a GTG. If I am ever allowed to go to one now. I should have never opened my mouth and just kept collecting saws.

Thanks. I guess I'll try track one down. I noticed mine is a Type 1 according to the serial number tag.

Well so much for the 335 project. Just pulled the cylinder off and the base was broken off at one of the mounting bolts. I guess I found the air leak. I guess I have a parts saw now.

Gregg,

You're not too far off topic Gregg. That's a good match for Craftsman/Poulan red.

This is mine I bought last year, 1975 with 10,638 DOCUMENTED miles. It was a search and rescue vechicle for a county in Arkansas and spent most all it's life in a fire station (heated and cooled).

Nice Jeep! I had that same Bellville/Warn winch on my '66 Bronco. Now THAT is a vehicle I wish I hadn't sold.
